The tight ends

Yea well get ours
but can we hold elite teams to less than 35
That’s gonna be the key
Can we keep teams like Clemson and to under 35

I wouldn’t call Clemson elite. I think their best win so far is 48-31 win over 4-4 UVA, which has the 89th ranked defense and the 83rd ranked offense. Gave up 31 to an offense almost as bad as FSUs. I think Louisville is a good gatekeeper team, determines which teams are truly legit. I think Louisville beats Clemson.

I mentioned this in "Biggest Concerns" thread earlier in the week; they've all but disappeared from overall offensive production. But I think like others it may be by design for the stretch run.

Imagine if we had Jeremiah Smiff at WR and he was getting thrown to 3-4 times a game, but we still had a high octane offense. One could make the same argument that the offense is just taking what the D gives them. It would probably be true, but I think it’s valid to ask if it’s an Xs and Os issue or if it’s due to the D taking that option away. I’d ask the football gurus here if they think the OC isn’t placing enough of an emphasis in getting the ball into the hands of his biggest playermaker. Perhaps I am overestimating Arroyos skill set, but he looks to me like he is an impossible mismatch. No LB can cover him and he runs as fast as a top tier WR when he has the ball. He’s too tall for a DB to cover him. I’d like to see him get the ball more but I am also curious if the D is erasing him , Cam just doesn’t check down to TEs often, or if Dawson isnt drawing up plays that are specifically designed to get Arroyo the ball.
I’d imagine the OC is placing the most emphasis on scoring points - I’m no guru, but seeing as how we have scored more points than any other team playing division 1 football, I’d say he’s emphasizing just fine.

Dawson has suddenly turned into Mike Leach with his utilization of TEs in the Air Raid. Arroyo looks like a nfl player when he has the ball in his hands and is a mismatch for any team in cfb, but he’s rarely utilized.
He really does look next level. Got to get him involved on a regular basis, he’s a mismatch in cfb.

1. Ward has to look for them. Arroyo has been open a few times

2. OL has been getting worse pass blocking and we have needed to keep them in to help

3. Dawson doesn’t have the bag to scheme them open more
in the fourth quarter, ward finally started to throw to the underneath guys. something he has ignored all year. many of those opportunities are to TEs

The very sight of Elijah Lofton in the game is exhilarating. Every play that Dawson has that involves Lofton in the personnel, works every time.
