The scary thing

Yes it is a scary thing. No matter how good any team is they won't continue to win if they have played like we have the last 3 weeks.

That being said. They've won every game they've played and that's all we can ask for. Proud of the team and their progress

The fact that we haven't played a complete game is not a good thing - it's an indictment. We can keep hoping that we'll clean up the turnovers and explosive plays on defense, but there's really nothing that should lead us to believe that we'll all of a suddenly start playing perfect, crisp games and blow people out of the water.
This is a good point. Same as hoping SM all of a sudden becomes a great decision maker and uses underneath routes and dumps.

But the last half of the season last year was evidence that the offense can click and play very well. If the O follows similar progression this year it will be a much better looking 2nd half of season.

I'm excited to see what Rashawn Scott brings to the table. Big, strong guy that can make catches over the middle. Morris looked his way a bunch last year before he got suspended.

Half the season in and not one clean game. In fact, over the last two, things have gotten worse. Breaking records in turnovers.

Yeah, that is a scary thing, PAL.

That's true I forgot the looking to the sideline was last year as well. So coley just needs to make him throw the safer pass and not into coverage.

There are plenty of safe passes open on almost every pass play. Morris is making poor choices like he has for most of the time he's been here. A senior QB needs to already know that you don't throw the ball up for grabs into double or triple coverage. If he doesn't know that yet, then he's too dumb to be our QB.

Agree with this, Morris needs to stop going for the homerun and realize a bunch of singles will keep drives going and set up the home-run later in the game.

also agree, Coley is going to have to actually call the play where the ball goes to the TE, cuz SM is not smart enough to do it on his own. I don't understand why you guys think he is all of a sudden gonna wake up one morning and start reading the defense and find the open man, aint never gonna happen. On the other hand Ryan W seems to be able to do this very well and move the ball down the field, he gets it, he didn't last year but he dam sure does this year. I bet the opposing coaches are thinking hey, as long as they leave Morris in there we have a shot, knowing he will throw a pic at the worse time, and they know exactly what he`s gonna do, throw deep. **** they don't even need to put a man on the TE or the back coming outa the backfield, its not like he`s gonna throw it to them, just watch his eyes and he will tell you exactly where he throwing. Senior QB, that's not good

About this team is that we have yet to play a full clean game. Not one game have we gone with consistency from start to finish, yet we have found a way to win them all. You have to think at some point we will put it all together. The scary part is... What if we HAVE seen how consistent we can be?

I would argue we played a complete game against Florida.

People are confusing canes with the heat.

Canes don't have a dominating advantage on talent compared to other teams in the country. We can not afford to play sloppy to win. In fact, we need to over achieve if we want to be elite at this point.

yep, we cannot survive multiple turnovers against fsu or vt, we will lose

We could be very good and were going to need to be that on Nov. 2nd...!

Its been that way since Golden got here....we never seem prepared for the teams good or bad.

the USF game last year was about as complete as a game I have seen in years...they were like 4-7...

we make corrections but the OF and Def never play a game where one dominates and the scores...its one way or the other..

Let's be real - we've been saying that for eons. Just wait until we play a complete game!! When, in reality, it's almost impossible.

It really makes the coaching job done against UiF look better and better IMO. We turn it over 4 times in that game and we lose. People destroyed our play calling in that game but as usual, our coaches wind up being a lot smarter than us.

People are going to dismiss your opinion here, but I think you are on to something. You have to think a little outside the box though which is tough for many people here.

True...but being 2-30 on third downs is horrible. Our turnovers as of late or horrible...just fix that and we blow teams out like we all want....

I know Golden puckered his *** with FL not to lose that game when we got the big lead. He has done that since Ohio St two years ago, like he does not trust this team...sooner or later he needs to let these guys go play 60 of CANE football...it will do wonders.
Don't get me wrong with young players you need to do these things, that is why you see teams losing last second games AKA UNC last week...if that coach would have put the brakes on and not thrown that horrible pass to Tracey..who knows...SO I get that Golden plays his instincts and we get Ws....but sooner or later the leash comes off maybe this weekend..

The fact our defense has not only held up but been reliable with the countless sh*tty spots they've been put in by the offense speaks WONDERS to the growth of that group from last year to this. This year we finally have depth on defense and have been able to assign definable roles to guys, that's huge especially considering they are expected to learn and retain a hybrid defense like ours.

whether its a blessing in disguise or not, I genuinely hope that we start to see an identity on offense reflecting more of a committment to the running game. dallas crawford dropped his sack last week and manned up when we needed him most. not to mention the o-line. and everybody knows linemen enjoy run blocking over pass blocking. we can stil spread it out and throw the ball but why not come out and exert our size up front on people? push them around, take their pride, and set them up for the big plays in play action circa '01 & '02?

Sometimes its not we havent played a complete game, sometimes that just becomes your identity. Right now we are winning but you cannot go into FSU and VT games and get the W, the way we are playing. Hopefully this isnt our identity and we get it cleaned up.

The Florida game we played a great defense, we didn't turn the ball over and our defense played amazing and created turnovers. That was a complete game.

No, we didn't rack up 500+ yards...but ya know what, that's not the team we are against good defenses. Morris is turnover prone, Duke is injury prone, and while our OL and WR's are very solid, currently there isn't an overwhelming guy who can/will take over games. I think people have overvalued who we are as a team.

I can see why you would think it was a complete game but if you think about how hot we started on offense and where we finished it is not consistent. Our special teams also gave up points by allowing a blocked punt.

and Stephen did throw a ***** Pic...that Howard bailed him out on AGAIN

Speaking of the running game, AG mentioned on Hotline that the last drive vs UNC we came out in several unbalanced formations we hadn't shown all year and their d was struggling to adjust.

Got me thinking it sucks we had to pull those out to survive that game instead of unleashing against FSU and vt. Rushing will be key especially against FSU and those aces up Coley's sleeve would have been huge.
