The scary thing

About this team is that we have yet to play a full clean game. Not one game have we gone with consistency from start to finish, yet we have found a way to win them all. You have to think at some point we will put it all together. The scary part is... What if we HAVE seen how consistent we can be?

I think the D has been more than OK. Sure, it's not perfect, but definitely a monster improvement over last year. The O is where we all expected to be elite/dominant, and it hasn't happened.

Most on here were in agreement that if the def could improve at a min to top 50+ we could have a great year. Where we lack and have maybe taken steps backwards is the offense. The only identity we have on offense is that we go for chunk plays. The offense needs to get going. Starting with the qb. Head out of *** Morris.

Morris just needs to channel a little Ryan Williams and just start checking down to some easy throws, get in a rhythm, and quit trying to force the tough throws. Look for Walford earlier. Any good TE is a mismatch. The big plays will come, but hitting the easy passes keeps the offense moving. People would love a running game getting 5 yards/play.

Our expectations have been raised. I would now be disappointed with a 50th ranked D.

Too much talent not to be top 25

Two things I see with Morris

1. Jedd did a great job last year hiding Morris' weakness which is decision making. He picked plays that Morris felt comfortable with, and limited his chances of throwing picks. Jedd did the same thing with Jacory the year before.

2. This year when they get to the line of scrimmage and look to the sideline for adjustment of the play is hurting Morris. It goes back to the first thing which is Morris decision making. He needs more time to process what is going to happen with the play and read the defense better.

Hopefully the mental part will get better each week, and it better if we want to beat Fswho.

And we were right. The D imporved and we are having a great year. Since we are Canes, of course, great will be defined as NC, but so far so good.

As to your number 2, they did a lot more looking to the sideline last year before the snap.

That's true I forgot the looking to the sideline was last year as well. So coley just needs to make him throw the safer pass and not into coverage.

There are plenty of safe passes open on almost every pass play. Morris is making poor choices like he has for most of the time he's been here. A senior QB needs to already know that you don't throw the ball up for grabs into double or triple coverage. If he doesn't know that yet, then he's too dumb to be our QB.

I watched the UNC game and kept wanting them to put in Williams. At least he throws to the open receiver. We almost beat our selfs in that game.

The D has been on the field all game, turnovers and they have held their ground well enough for us to be undefeated.

D needs to be on the field less, and yes we are having an amazing year, no one should forget the past 10 years and understand this is the process.

The team is learning how to win... It's a process, and if you look at The U vs. The Phins, you can see what I'm talking about... Morris has the worst game of his career and he still leads the team on the last drive to win the game, Tannehill has the same opportunity and can't pull it out.... Golden has the team believing and as Coach Larranaga said and I quote
""I am a big believer that success is based on attitude. We continually remind our players that life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.

This.

The offense just needs to correct a few things, and I think we'll get back to that run we went on last year. The offense is running up and down on opposing teams, but will turn the ball over at the worst time. Duke fumbling twice at the goal line. Morris throwing a couple picks in the redzone. I do think that we will change up the play call a bit when we start playing our tougher opponents. Shorter routes, and screens should help us out.

It's ironic that at this point last year we were wondering if our defense can or will stop anybody. A year later the question is our O. But like someone already said. We move the ball well on just about everyone. Our problem is turnovers.

The fact that we haven't played a complete game is not a good thing - it's an indictment. We can keep hoping that we'll clean up the turnovers and explosive plays on defense, but there's really nothing that should lead us to believe that we'll all of a suddenly start playing perfect, crisp games and blow people out of the water.

Agree with this, Morris needs to stop going for the homerun and realize a bunch of singles will keep drives going and set up the home-run later in the game.

I agree with you to an extent, but Golden has shown that he can get a team to improve over the course of the season, so hopefully after seeing the OL take over the game against UNC they realize we need to let the big guys get after it more.
