The portal is a lie

Hey NCAA,

What Would You Say You Do Here Office Space GIF

The portal became a moot point the moment they allowed unlimited transfers. No other college student need permission from the school to enter some kind of “portal” to change schools. The only reason an athlete should use the portal is if they want to advertise their availability to other schools. If you know where you’re going, no need for the portal.

Couldn't they also just publicly withdraw from the university and achieve the exact same thing?

"I am withdrawing from the University of ____ and am no longer a student there."

Basically makes them a free agent?

That’s exactly what Xavier Lucas is doing. For a lesser known player, the portal is probably a better idea because a majority of transfers get zero media coverage.

Exactly what we'll see ..unenrollment posts. I'm unenrolled and on the market for enrollment.
Insane 🤣

I mean isn’t that exactly what the portal is? It’s really no different than what we already have.

Agree, I had mentioned it’s going to be interesting in the Spring on Portal entry dates and enrollment dates to see if a precedent has emerged and players just unenroll at one school and enroll at another.

Miami was the first to exploit the NIL and now we're the first to wreck it... That's just awesome...
Reminds me of the line in Killshot by Eminem , " Had to give you a career to destroy it."

What's funny is that coaches JUST voted unanimously to eliminate the December and April portal windows, and condense it down tp a 10 day window in January.

I guess Fickell would not have voted in favor.
