Multiple reports over the past week that Mullen wasn't interested in interviewing for the Alabama OC job...you think he legitimately has interest in Miami? I'm just asking, I think it would be a home run hire.
How many times has something that was reported, turned out to be false? Speaking of Bama, remember Lil Nicky and that process? It’s not hard to come up with multiple reasons why Mullen or his reps would push that through the media.

It’s click bait season, don’t believe anything you read from these so called “journalist”.

With that being said, Mullen has coached in BFE towns the last 20 years of his life.

If he’s actually considering Miami (and that’s a big if) it might be due to location.

The rumors around Mullen have always been he hates the “south,” and prefers the northeast.

Miami could be a compromise. It’s in the south. But it isn’t “the south.”

Mullen, who recruited and performed so poorly at UF that we all cried when he left, is somehow a messiah?
Him back to focusing strictly on offense and won't have to recruit much to recruit more than gattis did plus Mario does enough recruiting for both of them he just has to show up and shake hands and show on tape what he's produced and we will be fine. Put out 1st and 2nd round talent at each postion group in his recent years. Unless we are pulling Brady or Dorsey this would be one of the biggest hires this year.

Albeit when we was looking at hiring him to be a head coach, safe to say he has coveted working down in coral gables for a while. He interviewed multiple times on different head coaching searches we have had in the last decade.

Only concern with Mullen is his evaluations seem to be a lot of sh*t.

Richardson was still raw as **** under Mullen and when he left UF for the draft.

And outside of Richardson his QB evals at UF were G5 worthy.

His evals at Miss St. weren’t great either, to the point that even Moorehead couldn’t do anything with them when he got there. Offense is what killed Miss. State.

And you could almost say the same thing for every other position group at those two schools as well under Mullen.

Which is a concern when offensive evaluation, outside of OL, doesn’t really seem to be Mario’s strong suit. He still hasn’t actually evaluated and landed a QB worth a **** up to this point in his career.

But you still take Mullen 10 out of 10 times and bank on Cristobal’s recruiting ability being so good that he lands Mullen the can’t miss 5* QB.
No candidate will be perfect that includes someone like Mullen but he can scheme up an offense with the best of them, and can develop QBs. If by some chance it was Mullen, which I don’t believe that to be so at the moment, he would be a great hire.

His offenses weren't the problem...but there's also this:

On Tuesday evening, ESPN’s Chris Low reported that offensive coordinator candidate Dan Mullen would be continuing his role as a college football analyst. Some Alabama fans may have had Mullen penciled in as the team’s future offensive coordinator. Well, that will not be the case.

Mullen has a history of developing quarterbacks like Tim Tebow, Dak Prescott, and Kyle Trask. Through his stops at Mississippi State and Florida, Mullen cemented himself as one of the most prolific play-callers in the country.

I agree.

But ideally you’d like a hire’s strengths to balance out the HC’s weaknesses.

My concern is Mullen doesn’t do that. At least not to the degree even another not-perfect, flawed candidate would do it.

Cristobal for sure balance’s out Mullen’s weaknesses (being able to sell on the trail). I’m just not sure Mullen balances out Mario’s.

Lots of OCs don’t recruit. He performed well with the shorty talent he recruited though. I wouldn’t have any problem with him as our OC.

But my top pick would be an uptempo spread first base layered with motion and multiple looks. Who is best at that offense these days that’s available?

Out of the “rumored” guys in consideration for the OC job, I hope that Candle, Frost and Hartline are the real serious ones, with Mullen also a possibility.

Arroyo would be another terrible hire, in my opinion. I hope that Mario doesn’t make the mistake of hiring the wrong guy again.

Hartline got the promotion to OC at Ohio State why would be come here lol

Hartline just got the OC job at Ohio State and Frost needs to be in rehab. How about Kevin Johns from Duke?

I don’t think Mullen is at bad at evals as you make him out to be, he did eval Dak and Richardson. Keep in mind that his last year at UF, Mullen checked out in regards to Richardson.

The other weakness that Mullen balances out for Mario is that he can take on all play calling duties and run the the offense. This allows Mario not to worry about game planning. That is a ton of work load there.

because either porsters (a) don't read, (b) porsters read but the don't understand or (c) porsters play too many videos games have addled and impaired brains and they cannot successfully operate or understand the *real* world. ****, to them sean payton is likely to come here.

Not saying he would or it will happen. But being the guy may appeal to him. In theory if he succeeds here he could go back to OSU if Day bolts. It’s very far fetched but I can see a very unlikely path that it happens.
