Official The OC Candidates Thread 2.0

For those just waking up (with or without hangovers), skip the past 10 pages. A respected porster says Mario has hired an OC and additional offensive corches. They will not be announced until next week. He believes we will be happy. Of course there has been a wave of speculation as to who they are. That is all.
And that does seem to line up with Smith's tweet👀

You don’t unconditionally hate like @SinisterCane and @crossover22[]_[]. Those two are very dedicated to their hateful craft.

In 100 years, students will be studying them as pioneers in the field. In 600 years, they’ll be revered for having changed the world with their message board behavior like in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure - the way their band, Wyld Stallyns, averted disasters and altered the course of history.

So we’re hiring the OC from San Dimas?

Party on, dudes!

Dawson does seem to be a similar candidate to Guidry, just on the offensive side.

Houston had a pretty productive offensive unit:

- Total offense #25
- Passing offense #8
- Rushing offense #77
- Red zone offense #28
- 3rd down conversions #24

They passed for 4082 yards, 40 passing TD's, 10 INT's and 67.4% completions while rushing for 1846 yards and 17 TD's.
Dual threat QB rushed for 546 yards, and the top 3 RB's rushed for 501, 435, and 359 yards respectively.

Ran 500 pass plays vs 402 rushing plays (55% passing 45% rushing) so they had a very balanced attack. It would be crucial for Mario to land those TWO big outside WR's in the portal so TVD has targets as he isn't going to be able to put up the rush numbers that the Houston QB did for sure, but that also gives the two freshmen some more touches potentially. Would be a dramatic improvement from the guy that was released (no longer using his name).

If you’re going to show up out of nowhere and play the fake insider game, saying the hire will be announced this Monday, or this week coming up, is a pretty good swing to take.

Just provide enough qualifiers, or make it vague enough, so that if it happens, you can mold your story around the actual facts.

Given Dennis Smith’s tweet about Brian Johnson (the reference), the ridiculously long time to announce (Super Bowl), and Dan Mullen reportedly speaking with Mario early on in the process - why aren’t we just assuming it’s Brian Johnson and a Coley as WR?
Because it is extremely unrealistic: he is one of the hottest name in the NFL right now and he will probably get an NFL OC job in Philly or somewhere else.
