You are entitled to your opinion on the situation, I just don't think that oversimplifying it is accurate. There's more than one category of mutual interest, that is all.
 
Streeter is the only candidate, of all the ones mentioned, that would give hope that the offense would at least be competent. Just not great. And who knows if he has to sprinkle a little bit of Mario on it, as the rumors are that every other OC has had to do.

But we’re at least not starting from a position of suck.

There just weren’t any actually good names mentioned. “Meh” is probably the best we are ever going to do under Mario, and hope his recruiting does the rest.

I’m sure we’ll connect the dots once it’s over…but we both knew Gattis and Ponce were gone back in mid/late November. Mario knew he had to start vetting through candidates right then and there.

Finishing up ESD, sure absolutely no problem with that. That’s his #1 job. The Gattis incident with the school undoubtedly delayed the firing process, but doesn’t mean it had to delay the vetting and back-channeling interview process as the final result was always going to be the same. If he’s still vetting through people on February 10th, a couple of these things are or could be true:

1. Someone else told us no on top of Candle.
2. We waited/are waiting on an NFL guy and put our eggs in that basket like Dorsey last season.
3. He has stipulations for certain position coaches and the OC’s being interviewed aren’t on the same page in terms of working with said position coaches.

Seems a bit like deja vu to be quite frank, but I’ll remain neutral until the hirings are complete.

Without knowing all the details, the results may show we couldn’t have done better. Maybe that’s just what we think and it’s not true. Again it’s hard to say for sure. You don’t continue to end up with mediocre hires, if you could Indeed “do better”

Yeah but you are just going off Football outsiders and refusing to use actual concrete stats like Yards and PPG which are both important, analytics don't tell the whole story.

Isn't Scott a WR coach. Based off some additional insider nuggets Mario wants Coley on this staff in some capacity. Most likely WR. Streeter coaches QB's. That's just an assumption.

Actually they do.

That’s the point of them. They attempt to tell the whole story, but adding context. And that’s what context is, it’s story telling.

“Yards” doesn’t tell the whole story. It literally just tells you yards.
