Two things can be true at the same time. Mario can be tight-lipped AND in love with Jason Candle.

Unless you are trying to say that people didn't see Candle in Coral Gables last week (more than once) meeting with various UM people.

That's the thing. I realize that some people may be skeptical of internet posts. Nobody is saying you can't be skeptical. But there has been substance behind "Candle is the guy" that goes beyond "rumors".

Even The Man, Cribs, who has proven himself many times over said that Candle was the choice:

I don't doubt he may have been the choice both years. But seeing as how Cribs got caught of guard for Guidry, is it not unfathomable that even Cribs isn't being let into this fully?

Or maybe even Mario is throwing stuff out to see who is leaking info. It doesn't make sense that this would be dragging on two years in a row by the same guy.

Can Coley Coach the WR’s???
Personally, I want someone with a good track record of development there especially given how much of a weakness that position is. I genuinely think that his best role is at QBs if not he's just a recruiter and "dead weight" as a coach which we can't afford. But im w @Memnon theres way better options that would fit well with Littrell. Mario just seems hellbent on bringing Coley, at least from what has been reported which could be BS

Don't really care where his offenses have ranked at Southern Miss. He took over a dump program and had 3 QBs hurt in 2021 and ran wildcat with Frank Gore at QB for their base offense for half the season. This year they predominantly played a true freshman QB. He's a good offensive coach. His offense at Tulane in 2020 scored 34.7 compared to the 34.8 they scored this year and he did it with true freshman Michael Pratt...

Yep. Saw it with my own eyes.

You might have missed some of this, but the Stats Nerds have taken over. They dismiss nearly every coaching candidate with some selectively curated statistic that shows every candidate short of Urban Meyer would be a disastrous hiring.

Intriguing option. I'd be surprised to see Mario go that direction.

He is another guy that doesn't coach QBs and he really doesn't have a true QB coach that sticks with him but it's an easier system to plug in a QB coach and get results. His QB coach from 2022 is an OL guy by trade and moved to QBs ahead of 2022 - now coaching OL at Cal.

If we hire Littrell, I'm reworking the staff so that he's not a position coach and can spend all the time he needs with the QB and QB coach
Would Littrells offense be able to marry up with Mario/Mirabals blacking schemes? To me that answer has to be yes for him to be a realistic option.

You said fa—-try in your post. That’s an insult and you aren’t on friendly terms with him…. Or the other guy for that matter though that’s a separate battle.

You assured me you wouldn’t go at Rok if I un-did the ignore, I did as you asked based on your word and you went back on it. It’s pretty ******* simple.

the above post was a slip, a relapse, which i take back and will delete. i've been debating with him vigorously about the stadium, but i believe in good faith and with compelling factual arguments. i apologize!

[already deleted by you. thank you]

I don't see what part of this you aren't agreeing with.

Why do you think that Candle "is just a name being thrown out" when he was seen in Coral Gables public places meeting with certain UM people (multiple times), and certain people at UM worked on drafting the contract?

And why can't you see that "offering a guy you tried to hire once before" had substance with Guidry, but is somehow just "throwing stuff out to see who is leaking info" when it comes to Candle?

I swear, when Mario hires an OC not named Candle, there will still be some fact-deniers who insist that the entire Candle pursuit was an elaborate smokescreen, regardless of the actual things that actually happened in the process of trying to hire Candle.

And for the record, the delays LAST YEAR were due to waiting on Dorsey THEN Candle. This year, it's primarily Candle.

That's racist...

I don't know enough about Littrell to make an educated guess. He's probably closer than a lot of other options as he's not traditional air-raid. More run and shoot similar to what Fedora was running at UNC - more air-raid principles in his passing game than Fedora because he came from the Mike Leach and Kevin Wilson tree.

I don’t think we need Tee Martin and Coley; just give me Tee at WR coach if you want a recruiter/better technician of the two. Son is on the baseball team so there’s some incentive/connection.

I know some on here have been high on Jeff Scott. Why not consider him for WR coach? He had some pretty good ones in his time at Clemson, including before Clemson was a such a draw in recruiting.
Blustein said on MaxedOut that Scott and Frost would be home runs at UM in his opinion. Thinks Scott got a raw deal at USF given he came during Covid. Couldn't recruit live, etc. Would be nice to get him on staff.

I agree. And, to be honest, I didn't think Candle would pull this **** 2 years in a row, even if it was for different reasons each time.

Again, I'm very specific with my criticisms. I'm not mad at Mario because "FIU" or "Oregon", I'm mad because he fell for the banana in the tailpipe AGAIN.
Don't say banana in the tailpipe, theres a picture that was once shown to a Top Gear audience that I reenters my head every time someone says that...

If the hire was Urban, they would cite his Culo+ finger sniffing statistics, and say he wasn’t qualified.
