The Malcolm Bunche transfer...

Bunchie was terrible here. He's an awful athlete. Stiff, slow and just terrible. The only thing he had was great size and strength.

Just because he's starting right now on a good team doesn't mean he's a good OL. It could mean that UCLA was hurting badly for OLinemens. UCLA ain't Bama or FSU when it comes to great talent and depth.

Agreed... think of it like Heaps at Miami

Linder and Seantrel underachieved here now? That's some dang good revisionist history.
are you joking dude? seantrel was supposed to come in start and dominate and then leave after 3 years to be a top 5 draft pick not be a flyer pick some team used in the 7th round on a player with potential. idk what you saw him do for you to say he didnt underachieve.. linder on the other hand was solid here and played close to what we thought he would be

Everyone of Seantrel's issues were related to weed or injury. Neither of which has anything to do with Kehoe's coaching.

If Bunche does well this year thats like the 76th strike vs Kehoe

I have no idea why people here think our OL is good. For the last two years vs any good team we have played that have gotten dominated

I'm one who thinks we've had talented linemen. Whether they've performed up to their ability is another issue altogether. It'd be on Kehoe AND others.

Think about it this way: last year's team had 2 guys who are starting in the NFL and 2 more guys (already with game experience and seasoning) who could be drafted and play in the NFL next year. Yet, we struggled in tough situations. Some of that is on the players (like Seantrel's situation to an extent) and some of that is on the coaches, I think.

I think we have the guys. I just think they arent being develop or being used correctly together

We should have better production

The parts are greater than the whole.

We've some serious O line talent and haven't been better than above average in a while.

Kehoe has been coasting off his reputation since the statue of Sadaam fell in Baghdad. Bunche underachieved here for sure, as most everyone else does, but we are looking at starting a true freshman at RT next week.

Every OL Kehoe has coached has progressively gotten better, including Bunche-some by a little, some by a lot.

In completely unrelated news, most people get bigger and stronger from age 18 to age 22 when they work out daily. Some by a little, some by a lot. We've had talent on the offensive line and our lines have been underwhelming. That's coaching.

We only gave up 17 sacks last year, tied for 23rd fewest in Div 1. I think our pass pro was pretty good considering how much we threw the ball and how often Morris chucked it downfield. Morris wasn't exactly quick with his decision making either. Morris had more time than he often thought....especially if you go back and watch the FSU game. Missed a lot of guys open because he felt pressure that wasn't really their yet.

Our run blocking is a different story. Very disappointing considering the size of the line, especially in short yardage situations. Some of that is on talent when Duke went down, but a lot of that is on Kehoe IMO.

Morris didn't go through his progressions and would lock onto a target at the snap, so I'd say he was quick with his decisions since he was only making one. When he would occasionally scan the field, that's when things got even scarier with him. He also got happy feet a lot when he didn't need to and while no runner, he could buy himself extra time.

Decent at pass protection last year, I suppose. The other team has a pulse on defense, the OL was crap. I said it when he was here last time, said it when he was hired by Al, and I'm saying it now....Kehoe is a liability rather than a strength. Love his passion, but that's where it ends for me.

Got a buddy in the UCLA fold. They were amazed how out of shape Bunche was when he arrived. Their S & C guy is one of the best; he is the S & C guy that use to be in the NFL (I think with the Eagles) that came from out of bounds and made a tackle on the field. I'm guessing the guy has access to the good substances out on the West coast (not that you can't find it in Miami, i.e. A-Rod). Bunche's physical makeover is supposedly astounding. We shall see.

thik bunche dad is an s&c coach and his mom is a body builder or some sh*t....Kid was huge for a reason....

I believe his dad also played in the NFL.

*Play calling and Kehoe are a problem...

* I was sitting screaming at the tv as Dominique Easleyy did what he wanted, as our blocking scheme had the center(Mcdermott) having to try a turn back block on him...and dude was screaming up field...Mcdermott has no chance with him regularly..a longshot in that particular blocking scheme...and dude disrupted half of our running plays just off of that alone.

*Our pass pro wasnt bad last yr....i expect it not to be that good this yr...Seantrel was greta in pas pro, as was Linder....what i saw from Gadbois and Mcdermott (freshman) left me a little uneasy....they had real problems with speed rushers in one on one drills...and thats OUR speed rushers. Mcdermott got a pass from me as he's a youngin. Now Gadbois when the team portion ame along looked abit better....but ol Bunche would have been penciled in on that right side.

There's a disconnect, we want our lineman to be agile like a Gibbs-style oline (zone) yet we have guys with mauler bodies. Come to think of it, that's the case with our LBs as well.

Blame Kehoe all you want but it's Al that wants to be everything to everyone without the necessary vision field a compatible system to the richest recruiting ground in the country.

How does Malcolm Bunche help us catch Florida State? Athletes like Malcolm Bunche are the reason we fell so far behind Florida State.

I remember the first time I watched him, in the spring game a few years ago after he was touted on Canes boards. I wanted to believe it had been parody. We can't rave about that guy unless our priorities are stiff feet and a hunched back. He was deep in the depth chart on merit.

As a USC alum I hope UCLA finds a flock of transfers and starters on Malcolm Bunche's level. I know they were desperate for numbers on their offensive line this year.

Really good QBs make their OLs look a lot better than they actually are......and visa versa.
