The Malcolm Bunche transfer...

Did anyone ever find out what the deal was? Just saw he was starting at LT for UCLA..

We sure could have used the depth. Makes no sense.

Malcolm said that he felt he deserved/earned more time on the field via his game/practice performances, but wasn't getting that @ UM. Based on that, he wanted a fresh start and while contacted by many schools, narrowed his choices down to TTU and UCLA.

He had terrible feet. Constantly beat by anyone that had decent lateral mobility. He couldn't pull as well as Linder or Feliciano, so he was a rotational player. If UCLA can get him to be a beast then good for them, but he wasn't good here. Prayers to Hundley's blind side.

If Bunche does well this year thats like the 76th strike vs Kehoe

I have no idea why people here think our OL is good. For the last two years vs any good team we have played they have gotten dominated

Based on what we have there now, his experience and the idea that he would probably be better on the right side rather than the left.

I'm one who thinks we've had talented linemen. Whether they've performed up to their ability is another issue altogether. It'd be on Kehoe AND others.

Think about it this way: last year's team had 2 guys who are starting in the NFL and 2 more guys (already with game experience and seasoning) who could be drafted and play in the NFL next year. Yet, we struggled in tough situations. Some of that is on the players (like Seantrel's situation to an extent) and some of that is on the coaches, I think.

He could be starting at rt here, anyone that believes different just sour grapes.

Why is it sour grapes to call Bunche a poor player? He stunk here. I don't care at all that he's at UCLA. Good luck to him and them.

He wasn't an las-conference player by an means but he would be add depth and competition on the right side of the line.

Bunche reminded me a lot of those ponderous( and really bad) Olineman we recruited during the ERRickson/Gregg Smith era

He gave me Ricky Perry flashbacks

Tank Carradine made a complete fool of him in 12'. I wanted nothing more from him at tackle after that game

A pattern may be in the works. Seeing a couple of last years OL excel in the pros already (or at least start, a big deal for a rookie lineman) who underperfomred for the U.

If Bunche balls out at UCLA, that would indeed be a pattern.

Maybe it's not the players? Don't kill me for saying that.

Malcolm Bunche could develop into an NFL-caliber guard with good coaching.

At tackle, he is a liability.

Rather lame using Bunche to take shots at Kehoe and strength and conditioning folks. If remember, kid's own parents were into nutrition and conditioning. Wish him luck and move on.

Speaking of former UM players who are now playing in the PAC 12, remember Jalen Grimble? Sounds like he's going to be a contributor for Oregon State:

Riley on the defensive tackles: "That should be a strength for the Beavers. With Siale (Hautau) back ... Bud Delva's a way different player than he was a year ago – and he was good a year ago, but I think he's much improved, better physically. Siale has been a good player and then Jalen (Grimble), I don't want to say too much because he hasn't played for us yet, but he's impressive. It should be a strength for this team. We should be solid down the middle."

Yeah bro. This is what I say. Wish him the best and move on. If he stayed, he would have balled out for sure because I'm sure he just hadn't learned the system yet. But if anyone's blaming Golden or Kehoe for this then I doubt they're a true fan, bro. Our o-line is gonna dominate. We're the Canes bro!

We only gave up 17 sacks last year, tied for 23rd fewest in Div 1. I think our pass pro was pretty good considering how much we threw the ball and how often Morris chucked it downfield. Morris wasn't exactly quick with his decision making either. Morris had more time than he often thought....especially if you go back and watch the FSU game. Missed a lot of guys open because he felt pressure that wasn't really their yet.

Our run blocking is a different story. Very disappointing considering the size of the line, especially in short yardage situations. Some of that is on talent when Duke went down, but a lot of that is on Kehoe IMO.

Regardless of how bad he was at OT, I still think our best five would involve him at OG & moving Feliciano out to OT. (At least for Labor Day in the season opener verses having to start a true freshman)

I think we have the guys. I just think they arent being develop or being used correctly together

We should have better production

The way the O Line was dominated in the Bowl game by Louisville was inexcusable, Kehoe even admitted that he did not know how to defend the blitzing thrown at him. How he holds on to his position is incomprehensible. Unfortunately the smarter teams are going to watch the film of that game and do the same thing. He bleeds orange and green, but the game has passed him by and it is time for him to retire.

Linder and Seantrel underachieved here now? That's some dang good revisionist history.
