If real, sorry to hear Chantz could be soft. He was a prized DE recruit. This kid and Jabari Ishmael were supposed to be future DE studs. There is still time. If Steele and the Samoan can get their azzes in gear we'll have a pretty good and athletic DE corp with Kelly and Moss. Sometimes when a new staff and young cats come in and turn up the heat, young men respond. Let's hope

Yeah I dont think he was persuaded to stay. Maybe Nesta wanted Mario to kiss his a$$ into staying and Mario kind of gave him the "You can stay if you want, its up to you. Doesnt matter either way" type treatment and Nesta took that as him telling him to move on. I just cant see Mario telling Nesta to find other options especially with alot of guys still hanging around that we all KNOW should be told to hit the portal IMMEDIATELY.

That said, glad he landed on his feet. He played hard for us and Lance Roffers has said many times that his motor at DT will be sorely missed this year. He will have fun on and off the field at ASU. I will make it a point to check out some of their games in the late night come this season.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he did. Mario wants disciplined guys up front. I know I’ve seen Nesta “doing his own thing” upfront more than a few times this year. Wit that interview, it makes perfect sense. He’s trying to get stats to increase his “value”. So he’s taking chances. Sometimes he guesses and makes plays, more often, he guesses wrong.

I do not disagree. But I would say that the primary reason for Mario's ask was not Silvera's on-field play.

I don't mean this to come across as questioning King's statement (or Nesta), but it just seems odd to me that he would leave when UM FINALLY has a HC and a structure in place that demands 100% full effort. Nesta, for all of his limitations, always looked like a guy to me that gave it 100% every time he was out there.

I know he is maybe a bit undersized by Mario's standards, but surely one would think Nesta's competitive spirit would be welcomed to stay on the team, especially with the lack of depth at DT.
After listening to the interview, it sounds like he's UM in his heart but his head told him with it being his last ride he needed to go where he was NEEDED and could put himself into position to display his talent.

I think he'd definitely played but him being a starter wasn't anything for sure and he might have felt that that's both what he wanted and needed for his best shot to impress NFL draft scouts.

I can see Herm Edwards now: Scouts gotta see you first, they can't see you if you on the bench sharing reps...you come here and you'll be on the field and I'll use my connections to make sure NFL scouts are seeing you

Does any of this surprise anyone? Mario has a lot more house cleaning to fix the situation.

p.s., that comment about Patke's stupid *** spirit award tee-shirt -- after losses no less -- makes me want to 🤮
I can't believe that mfer was giving out the spirit squad award shirt... I deadass rolled on the floor

I'm not asking anyone to dislike him. But there were certainly "issues" under Manny and different "issues" under Mario. It's incorrect for people to be dismissive of what insiders have reported in the past, just because Nesta is spinning things his way on this particular show.

I'm not disputing the core of his objections with the coaching, effort, and overall team production. But while Silvera and King may have the same complaints, they expressed their concerns in completely different ways. There have certainly been a lot of things that Nesta has said or done that have undermined the effective communication of his issues. And I'll just leave it at that.
This 100%. Please don’t lump the two two together. Don’t get me wrong, D’eriq thought a lot of those guys were soft and didn’t have the Will to win but he wanted to instill it in them.. nesta was just in the way..

- Nesta love Miami but he had to move on.
- The old staff were trash and way out of their league.
- After the FIU game coaches gave spirit leader award t-shirt
- The nutrition has vastly upgraded since Cristobal arrive. Which makes sense cause a lot of the athletes look small and not physically developed.
- If Mike Rumph would have stayed at American Heritage, Nesta would be playing OG in college. SMH. Surround made the move. They Kinda clowned Rumph for it.

Shoutout to Nesta. I do understand leaving. It sounds like he just doesn’t believe in some of his teammates. Talked to a couple of people close to him and they told me Nesta felt like a lot of them boys were soft and didn’t care. They said Chantz Williams, A few of the DBs, Bradley Jennings. Also heard them say that Gurvan Hall had no business playing.

PS: Random - Man, am I happy that TVD is QB now.
Bradley Jennings was a waste of scholarship. Manny starting him after having enough film to realize he’s probably a d3 maybe d2 linebacker and still running him out there was fraudulent enough to get fired. I watched a couple Miami games with mark dantonio, he’s a close friend and neighbors in the summertime. He couldn’t believe how bad and poorly coached Miami was. I texted him when Manny got the pen state job and his response was priceless

This.

Doesn't make sense.

I was much lower on Jabari than Chantz coming out of HS. I also never heard Chantz is "soft" but just a **** knucklehead that can't pull his head out of his as$ he is one I could see just joking around too much, win, lose or draw. Jabari has a good frame but I thought he was a little stiff and IDK if that flexibility will increase with weight gain. But agree we likely need both this year.

Never seen a program air out dirty laundry as much at UM.
Players who transfer out, some alumni, some Board of Directors, players who leak out stuff, even staff have.

Am I crazy? Or is this pretty common place. Like shoot, if guy thought that some players shouldn't have played, wouldn't be the perfect time to bring it up to a guy (i.e., Cristobal) who lived it beforehand, and to be quite honest, seems like Mario would welcome it and notice that in a leader type person?

Either way, I think this is a grey area (ex. the way he's speaking of the program) between sour grapes and just straight fed up with some **** that was flying around the program while he was here and maybe he didn't want to have to be part of a rebuilding effort AGAIN.
