***THE DEFINITIVE PLAYOFF THREAD***

Georgia Tech screwed us a second time. If they had just beaten Georgia, then the rankings could have gone differently. Georgia would have looked worse and, by extension, Alabama’s win against them would have been less impressive. And our loss to GT would have looked better.
Actually the refs screwed us...even when we weren't playing (by ******** GT).

I wish they opened up questions to the committee to people who actually care about the answers, not Rece and the rest of the company men who don’t care and won’t ask tough questions. These 4 questions should be asked.

How can you claim teams that aren’t playing can’t move, but teams that are playing can? And if that’s the case what happens when resumes change?

Why aren’t Ole Miss and SC ranked above Miami? If the “ultimate deciding factor” was top 25 record, Miami is also worse than both of them in that regard. Both of them have similar or better records against teams over .500 as Miami. And both of them have the same record as Bama. So how is Miami still ranked ahead of them?

How does this make sense? Syracuse beat UNLV and has a much better resume. If you ranked Bama ahead of Miami based on resume and not record, how can you do the opposite of that with these two teams?

I need an answer to this question if Texas whips UGA. Kind of odd that it was only asked of SMU and nobody else, isn’t it? Almost like the next narrative is forming.

Biggest issue to me is still including G5 programs in the playoffs or rankings

I do think there is a built in bias for the sec and big10 but by including non p4 teams you basically kill the context of the conference schedules of the acc and big12.

If they want to say the big10 and sec are the two best conferences cool, but why do we have to sit here and act like army,Memphis, boise, unlv deserve to be ranked as non p4 teams?

For example the committee guy said bama has more top25 wins, the rankings are already bias for the sec we all agree but if they took out non p4 teams duke and Louisville would be top25, but they are 26 and 28 behind those non p4 teams.

They only acknowledge a difference in conference level competition for the sec and big10 but they ignore it for the big12 and acc compared to non p4 teams

The conference play competition level isn’t the same at all but i guess we gotta make them feel included

What a ****-show they created with those rankings.
A quick course on how to destroy your credibility in one easy step.
And this is not just about Miami, inferring that SMU could be left out if they lose their conference championship game!?! WTF.
Imagine being punished for that while the team you move up sits at home.

This all precludes the SEC and Big 10 demanding 4 playoff auto bids apiece. It’s going to be Bama to get 4 SEC teams in no matter how they have to spin it.

This way in 2026 they can say “we’ve already seen under the old format that these conferences deserve 4 teams apiece”

And they will get it.

I really don’t care at this point. We lost 2 of our last 3 games when our staff knew they were in “playoff mode”. Playoff mode means you can’t lose. We cancelled recruiting visits to focus on this **** and still showed up the way we did. I had to watch Mario advocate for his team on national television by saying we had a top 25 defense.

I just want to congratulate the CFP committee.

They somehow managed to handle a 12 team playoff WORSE than they handled the 4 team playoff.

And, they managed to produce a system that is even worse than the pre-BCS era
system where everything was sorted out by voters at the end of New Year’s Day.

It’s really just incredible.

Bottom line a 9-3 acc team would never ever get in over a 10-2 sec team If the teams were reversed.

What I don’t exactly understand, wasn’t the CFP to look past the rankings YET the reason Bama is ahead is due to record vs top 25 teams mostly that are 9-3.
