When you put on the chain for the first time as a freshman, at home, in front of a bunch of friends and family, after picking off the #3 team in the nation and taking it back for a TD....Because you trusted your coach, assignment, and film study. You get to indulge in it for a few minutes on the sideline and celebrate as your offense is full of energy and ready to abuse the motivation.

To this point, you can forsure say the turnover chain was just something for other fan bases to mock when we were losing. But I’d argue it brought a ton of energy to the sidelines. After turnovers, the team would get super hyped knowing the chain was coming out. Does that kind of positive reinforcement and boost in team morale tangibly impact performance on the field? Maybe maybe not but it never hurt.

If that was representative of the only times we busted it out, cool. It wasn't. It became a lame participation award. While awesome, that one moment does not erase all the other moments where guys were cheezing it up for the cameras after pouncing on a fumble down by 10+ in the second half.

And if you NEED a trinket to feel good about yourself after "picking off the #3 team in the nation and taking it back for a TD....Because you trusted your coach, assignment, and film study," you are part of the problem. I never saw Barry Sanders do anything but flip the ball back to the referee after he scored. Yes, that's a Boomer comment. It's also a true comment.

You want to celebrate? Win the fúckin game. Want a chain? Go buy one with your NIL money. Now get off my lawn!

I'm sorry but what was the score at that moment? And how does that compare to the multitude of times we busted out the TO chain while losing, most notably against Alabama. The TO chain is a caricature of what people (like yourself) think our "swagger"was back in the day.

If our swagger was truly represented by that garbage, someone like Mario - who does have a good grasp on our history - would have continued it.
 
Now we blaming participation chains for winning or losing.

Its not like Miami was known for being choir boys lol the showboating/gimmicks def was part of our culture in the 80s/90s and everyone loved it cause we were WINNING, losing sours everything and now we want miami to mirror UGA/Alabama or sum ****. If we were winning and competing for Natties I Promise you very few would be complaining about a turnover chain.. it is what is is tho let Mario build it his way.

Everything is always better when you’re winning. How many schools and opposing fans were quick to **** in Miami where they were put on probation in the 90’s? It was their payback for years of being embarrassed by a Miami team that they didn’t think played the game the “right” way. Yeah when you talk trash and lose it comes back harder. But that’s what Miami football is. We understand **** well that our antics can be used against us but we don’t care because we don’t play scared to lose. It’s like when fans get all butt hurt when other teams throw the U upside down. Yeah that **** happens but you better believe when we’re up, we’re throwing that U.

Trying to compare the turnover chain to players celebrating in the past? Do you want to know the difference? The chain wasn't organic at all. It was a prop that had to be displayed simply because a turnover occurred regardless of the situation of the game - even down 30 with 2 minutes to play in a game.
