you assume a kid from South Dakota would want to come to Miami. He's visiting Iowa. hes a midwest kid.

I Don’t see any good QBs that jumped in 2024 with Rashada being the high profile name.

I know, doesn’t mean that Mario wouldn’t have gotten someone else to jump in via tampering but the odds were not in his favor.

But we are about to find out if he’s able to do it this spring if he doesn’t get a last minute QB after the playoffs.

I agree with you. I was just saying that Mario would not have simply given up and rolled with Poff/Emory.

Also, do not rule out the idea that head coaching changes can trigger portal entry. No specific names to share, there, but with the football season getting longer and longer, the dates keep getting later and later.

Agree completely.

I'm not trying to be on "one side" or "the opposite side". Mario is making the effort, and the results are not as strong as we need them to be.

Whether there is a surprise to come, nobody can be certain.

This whole thing is so bizarre I don’t know what to think anymore. Mateer was almost 2 weeks ago. There were other guys that Mario has passed on after that including Mendoza. We saw how much the coaches trust Emory on 12/28.

I still believe that Mario has a plan and I’m sure there is lots going on behind the scenes but wowzers is this odd.

For 8 million per year and unprecedented support from the University it is just not right that we have to pray for a surprise to save our *** again in YEAR 4.

Mario was supposed to be very organized especially in the recruiting department and this year all we are seeing is an improvised malpractice in every aspect.

How you do anything is how you do everything and he is not doing well enough.

For 4 years - yeah i can see location being a huge factor. Proximity to family and friends, fit with local cultures or weather preference, etc.

For a 1 year "show me" audition, i think it means less. If all things are equal between schools, or at least close, i can see something like being a local hero paying off....but you don't know if you don't ask. If these kids want to play NFL ball, they go wherever they are drafted and need to focus on ball/opportunity more than location.

Wait it out and see. If MC brings in a competent QB, then what are u going to say? I understand the frustration but u dont know whats goin on behind the scenes. Let MC cook or not cook lol. Sometimes u just gotta let things unfold. MC will continue to let us know who he is as a Coach. Its evident that he is still growing and trying to become the best version of himself. We all know he's got a few more years. His next moves with the Defensive staff and QB will give us insight into that with ND on deck in 2025.

1. 8 million per year. Sadly, that is market price now. You can't act like a particular salary price-point guarantees a result. If dozens of coaches are making the same exact salary (or more), then not all will attain the same results. I'd have rather paid Butch Davis $8M per year in 2001, but we can't turn back time.

2. Unprecedented support from the University. Yeah, and that's the problem. "Unprecedented".

3. Very organized. Who says that he isn't? Unfortunately, he doesn't have enough guys who share his fanaticism and/or organization, and one of the few is an unreliable recovering...whatever...

4. Recruiting department. I can agree on this to a degree, although we need to differentiate between scouting and recruiting. I believe we need way more improvement on the scouting side. We were headed in the right direction before Mario clearly favored Smiff over Highsmiff. We don't need to revisit the Bartender vs. Rumph debates to realize that sometimes a less-qualified person wins the argument on "who to recruit". On the recruiting side, fortunately we will be (belatedly) sidelining Smiff, who has blown one too many recruitments in the late stages. Pun may or may not be intended.

And none of what you said addresses your repetitive use of the "asleep at the wheel" AI picture, which simply isn't accurate or true. There are definitely some problems to address, but how would "firing Guidry a couple weeks earlier" have resulted in us landing Mateer, for instance? People just conflate different issues and overgeneralize them.

I saw him play. I think it was against Montana state. I wasnt blown away. I dont think he'd come here and be an All ACC Qb. I could be wrong but I know regardless we have to push the narrative that Mario blew it and we lost out lol

I honestly dont know what I feel is crazier..the fact that Mario and staff think we will get any premier WRs with no real QB to throw to them or the fact that CJ Daniels still committed under the same exact circumstances. Lol.
