That's all debatable. If you spend money on guys and you get wins, then it's money well spent. We roll out 5 or 6 wins this upcoming season, that's part of our "responsible" ways.

In any case, it's not our money and if we were spending like crazy, shooting upwards in the win department, nobody would say we should've been responsible. That sounds like a coping mechanism for not landing elite guys.
We're supposed to be proud now that we're not over spending on top transfers but we when we tossed Temple what 4M to get Diaz back we were told it wasn't our money so why did we even care about it as fans.

4 mil would buy a **** of lot of recruits.

Buying Diaz back, what a couple of days after the fact, no coaching search, etc. I think that speaks for itself.

“Character”…getting bent over by your starting QB because your QB room sucks….

USC building a playoff team. Miami building a startup…
You’re comparing 2 different things. USC thinks they can make the college football playoffs this year and are trying to add the pieces to put them over the top. Even if we hit on EVERY player we go after in the portal is anyone in their right mind talking about us making the playoffs? Nope.

Because we don’t have the same caliber coaches to do what USC did last year at the same starting position as us. They went forward and should’ve been in the playoff last year. We went backward.

No because Manny left our roster in worse shape than USCs for one. You dont notice how much bigger, faster, and more athletic the players are that have come to Miami in the last 2 cycles? And again 2 different things....Riley recruited and coached Caleb W for a few years and then took him to USC. Now, examine the dynamic of Mario and Van Dyke...nothing more to say.

Also, Miami is also NOT going to over spend on any blue chip prospect like certain schools are doing. Miami has handled the $ numbers very responsibly and isn’t promising starting roles. As we continue to load up, I expect for this to change a little bit.
I wonder if Zo is having a bigger effect in this aspect given he has so much experience working in the NFL with a salary cap. Think a lot of coaches are just in the mindset of give me all the money and all the best players you can buy... without zero regard for actual team building and talent evaluation/fit and how that spending could have negative effects in the future.
We need the money to be there but we gotta be responsibly using it. Spending out of control isn't how you win.

USC had a horrible roster. Lincoln just didn’t **** around with high school recruiting and invested in the portal. Now he’s about to strike gold again in the portal and potentially be in the playoffs in year 2.

Meanwhile, we’re emphasizing character so we can hopefully eek out 6 wins.

To be fair to Mario, he’s not an OC. He’s not a DC. So he can’t instantly impact one side of the ball. It’s always going to have to be a “process” because of that. Stack talent, develop talent. Just painful to witness.

I will take the slow build throw high school as long as we recruiting top classes. I feel better about it long term.

They were 4-8 in 2021, now they’re capping off the pieces for a playoff team. We were 7-5 in 2021 and are hoping to piece together 7 wins this year…

Yeah but the PAC 12 sucks that’s why Mario won it so easy… or at least that’s why everyone says
