- Miami is emphasizing character in the Portal. They want talent, but they want talent without headaches- Akheem Mesidor, Francisco Mauigoia, Matt Lee and Javion Cohen are examples of what they are looking for. Josh Farmer of FSU was a kid they liked, but they did not want to play negotiation games. Farmer ended up squeezing FSU for $440,000.

- One DT in the mix is Keivie Rose, who made First Team All-CUSA last year. Dennis Smith (Miami's recruiting coordinator) was instrumental in bringing Rose to Louisiana Tech. There is strong mutual interest. Miami continues to communicate with Tywone Malone (Ole Miss) and Miami would be happy to land one or both.

- Miami is in strong position for CB Jaden Davis (Oklahoma). They value his IQ, experience, energy and footwork. Miami would still like another corner. Jadais Richard (Vanderbilt) is a name that intrigues the Canes.

- Running back remains a position to watch. Miami is quietly in contact with multiple RBs in the Portal.

- They remain in good shape with WR Xzavier Henderson (UF) and believe there is more to his game than what he showed in Gainesville. He is a long-striding, field stretcher, but was often used on short passes and screens by Napeir due to their lack of shifty WRs. Miami is still in contact with JaQuae Jackson (D2 AA) and would take him.

- It looks like Miami or USC for Trequon Fegans. Miami wants him either as a big nickel or a safety. They are not as high on Demetrious Hill of FIU.

- Things continue to move along on the high school front. As Steve Wiltfong noted, Miami is in good position with elite DT Justin Scott of Chicago. There will be a major recruiting event in the weeks to come, with multiple elite targets set to attend. More information will be coming soon there. We have not heard much about Jerrae Hawkins of IMG and the Canes, but I understand there is significant mutual interest and communication. He has been compared internally to Jaylen Waddle.

- There is a lot of faith in Jacurri Brown at the Hecht, but they would love to add a backup QB and continue to search. Brown would love to redshirt if possible.

Also, Miami is NOT going to over spend on any blue chip prospect like certain schools are doing. Miami has handled the $ numbers very responsibly and isn’t promising starting roles. As we continue to load up, I expect for this to change a little bit.

After watching the Colts draft AR with the 4th pick I gotta believe JB is already a top 10 pick if being a good runner but having trouble with accuracy is what teams are looking for…..😜

The only tools he is missing is a .500 record and can throw the ball into a ceiling. That being said, the colts might have a chance to draft levis in the 2nd round

This is awesome. This is a kid who’s aware of his shortcomings and willing to work on his craft, to get it right… instead of hauling *** at the first sight of adversity. That type of attitude will take him far in life. I wish the best for this kid. He wants to be REALLY ready the next time his number is called in Coral Gables.

That's all debatable. If you spend money on guys and you get wins, then it's money well spent. We roll out 5 or 6 wins this upcoming season, that's part of our "responsible" ways.

In any case, it's not our money and if we were spending like crazy, shooting upwards in the win department, nobody would say we should've been responsible. That sounds like a coping mechanism for not landing elite guys.

If you add the puzzle pieces together, culture guys + reluctance to spend money = Mario wants to build from within. He’s focusing on high school guys. We’ll see if it pays off, because this season has to be one of sizable improvement. Don’t care how you get there, but get there.

Good stuff as always.

PS - Need more than intrigue with the Vandy kid, need full blown interest and pursuit. Checks every box for us. He easily slides into our top 2 with years to play and takes pressure off of Damari/Chris Graves and creates a huge battle between those 2 for next year. While we are “intrigued” and moving at snails pace, USC has probably already given him a grade A deal and setting up his visit this weekend lol.

Deep sigh
