Putting this one out quick because a lot of news is dropping fast:

- Miami trending with Top 100 players WR JoJo Trader (Chaminade) and TE/WR Caleb Odom (Carrollton, GA). Nothing imminent I am aware of, but they would give Miami a huge start to their pass-catcher overhaul with blue-chip WR Chance Robinson (STA), who committed on Saturday.

- I expect a run of commits and Portal additions. As Gaby hinted at on 247, I expect commits from DB Dylan Day (Baton Rouge, LA), OL Juan Minaya (Paramus, NJ) and S Isaiah Thomas (Clearwater). Miami is also trending for CB Ricky Knight (Benjamin), with FSU also in pursuit. People in the building (especially Coach Guidry) are very excited about Day. His frame looked long on his visit with room to add weight, and he has solid testing numbers to go along with outstanding film. He will upgrade the physicality, versatility and instincts of the class immediately. Minaya is someone Mirabal has targeted from the jump. He goes big-name hunting, but he also has his personal giants. Word on Thomas (originally from Toronto) is that he is a big-time talent and should be fully recovered in fall from his knee injury.

- I understand there will be a mixed reaction to a flood of non-blue chip commits, but remember that there a ton of elite players on campus this month and they all left loving Miami. Those processes will take more time and I'll have more scoop on those visits later in the week. The kids identified above are prospects that Miami has evaluated and prioritized early.

- There is about to be a wave in the Portal. Watch the DT position. As I've been saying for weeks, Miami doesn't just want someone big- they want someone big and athletic. They will add a RB and a nickel. D2 All-American WR JaQuae Jackson is enjoying the recruiting process but Miami is firmly in that battle. Nothing done yet. I expect us to land Lou Cristobal (Georgia State starter) to compete with Ryan Rodriguez at backup center. The priority going forward with be corner.

Not a fan of taking Minaya this early. I think he plays high and has poor feet. He's just playing against midgets in his highlights. I can't see him being the prototype of what they are looking for at OL.

And if his last name wasn't Cristobal, he'd probably go start at some G5 school instead of playing backup here.

Only one C starts and we already signed an elite one out of the Portal. This is about improving your depth beyond its current level, at minimum risk.
Lol..like Sagopolu or Seymore couldn't be moved to compete with the other undersized backup center. Or any of a number of OL from around the country who will enter the portal wouldn't be better options than a 6' 270lb center named CRISTOBAL. This is about a kid named Cristobal getting a degree from Miami, and possibly a scholly in spite of Uncle Mario being a kabillionaire.

Clearly you have sources (respect)... and apparently they have the ability to sell ice to Eskimos. Otherwise, don't **** down my leg and tell me I spilled my soup.

IMO...When going after their 320+ RT/Guard mammoth type...If they couldn't get Mcroy from Alabama it was Minaya or Mike Williams. So not sure ion we take Williams at this point if Minaya comes aboard.

Who cares if he’s a PWO or the 85th guy on the roster?
Come on man. There's a difference. If he's a walk on, then yeah. Definitely bring him on. But on scholarship? That's not right.

Ever since he got hired, we've heard repeatedly about how the roster needs to be purged. There needs to be a culture change and the talent isn't anywhere close to where it needs to be. They've even told guys to hit the portal for those reasons.

Giving a scholarship to an undersized, part time depth piece, because he's family flies in the face of that mindset. Its not right to say all that other stuff still applies to everyone else, but not this one guy because he's family.

I also have a hard time believing Mario would ever let a (questionably) 6'0/270 o-lineman see the field. And if that's the case, why should he be on scholarship?

I consider myself a pretty hardcore Mario sunshine pumper, but even I can see that putting this guy on scholarship (for the next two years no less) is a bit much.

Only this collection of ****sticks would take a post with several names who have chances to develop into starters and have 80% of the replies be about the last kid mentioned as a throw in to compete to be a backup lineman. How could you possibly care? The kid isn't taking your tailgate spot. He's not moving into your house. Who gives a ****?

Agree w this for most part although I believe Williams has much better shot at staying outside than this kid. This kid is interior all day IMO.
