I've very torn on this. Cam is on my Rushmore, but I would love to see Emory get some real burn.

I hope cam plays one quarter and they pull him. Everyone wins.

I think his approach to focusing on mateer and seemingly just letting Mensah/Arnold just go to other schools was a terrible move. Because he either had some type of intel that mateer was extremely interested in us and was already told he’d (Mario/Miami) get a visit or he didn’t wanna settle (which he has to now) and all while we lost a significant chunk of our top tier portal targets

I don’t think Mario is a bad recruiter but I think there’s an adjustment that NEEDS to be made. On the flip side I think he’s actually done a good job of retaining our talent thus far. If we were truly in trouble we’d be losing talent. The team fights for Mario and loves him once their on his side, but his bigger obstacle in this NIL/Portal era seems to be getting them in the door. His strength is relationships, unfortunately recruiting is way more than that these days.

I agree 100%. NIL is an equalizer of Mario’s recruiting strengths so what’s needed is the ability to pay on one hand but also identify, develop and coach up talent and that’s not where he’s going to be better than the average Joe on a good day.

Next thing you know we will be waiting for the “spring portal talent” and be left at the altar once again and then it’ll be “the real talent is in the SFL 2026 class and Mario is trying to get a head start and we feel strongly about the guys we have”

Don’t even get me started on the whole “staff changes are coming after the bowl game” because that is absolutely hurting more then helping.

I’m starting to think the whole portal and how it’s currently built hinders Mario more than it helps and as it stands he is not adjusting to the times. The portal is becoming fast paced and Mario is everything but.

For clarification I was being sarcastic or whatever you would call it when I posted to play him just to show them/expose them quickly for how stupid they are thinking they can win with Emory Williams.
