The former.
Holding out on us are you? How dare you.
J/k.

Much like polling, predictions mean very little. They are educated guesses. Let’s not get too caught up in what @DMoney is able to tell us by way of prediciton because we are just looking for news that makes us feel better. But it won’t matter one bit if the result on early signing day is different than the prediction.

Lot of misses unfortunately
Where? The guys that left the program were mostly Manny's guys. Our losses at DE were upgraded and the depth is excellent.

Maybe adding a QB, DB and 1 DT from the portal. We'll have Brown, Frederique, and Patterson as starters. Hill, Richards, and Day as backups unless they transfer. If we can land Pickett, we're solid. That lineup is an upgrade from this year. Many of the same guys, but with experience playing at their natural positions.

Let's not forget our stud 2024 DL class I labeled "The Hateful 8." Those guys will be major contributors.

We should not have to rely on the portal in year 4 to wholesale restock position groups. We are not FSU. The DT, WR, and DB (especially) recruiting is very concerning. No reason the best recruiter in the country with Miami’s NIL support shouldn’t be able to sign a top 5 player in each of those position groups every year.
I know you’re usually very pessimistic, but to be honest, this is right on the money.

I still think we land an elite, top 6 class. It would be unfathomable to believe otherwise, unless we completely collapse down the stretch. Don’t see that happening, Ward and the offense is too good.

This board isn’t ready to have the “Mario the Recruiter” vs. “Mario the Evaluator” conversation. And it’s not a sunshine and rainbows one. But, that’s for the offseason.

The portal needs to be used (both as a general statement, but also as it directly pertains to this team); there’s too many current holes on this roster + departing players, to argue other wise. It’s pretty mandatory if this program has aspirations of sustaining success.

We need to step it up for the type of season we are having.. Everyone else in top 5 is doing well.

Saban misevaluated all the time. As does Kirby, as does Day. The secret is in always stacking talent so for every Wayne there’s a Bain, for every Samson there’s a Cici. Plus depth of talent breeds competition which breeds excellence. Feels like Mario is doing all that outside of DBs.

I also have no issue with bringing 5-10 portalers each year who are expected to start. If a Kelly or a Brashard or a Harrison-Hunte don’t want to beat the new competition then they’re welcome to transfer. We hurt ourselves not going for more CBs because we were worried Damari would transfer out, then he got injured Game 1. Can’t let that happen again.

We have one of the worst defenses in the ACC after three of his classes.
Sure, if we want to just make **** up

Among ACC schools:
- 7th in Points allowed
- 5th in Passing yards/game
- 2nd in Rush yards/game
- 1st in Total yards/game allowed
- 5th in Avg Yards/Play
- 2nd in 1st downs given up
- 3rd in INTs, 2nd to last in Fumble recoveries (bad)
- 3rd to last in 1st downs given up by Penalties (so bad).

I know but the way its worded made it seem like we’re moving on
Idk just logically to me is seems Hanks, Pickett, Antoine, and Anding have clearly always been like the top 4 targets, but we never had the most traction with Anding. And They clearly are taking Ewald and Carter (maybe nickel) regardless. So It doesn't seem crazy to me for Merritt to see that and be more ready to move on imo.
I personally would do what we can to keep him, especially since we aren't guaranteed Hanks/Pickett.

The team is going to be very young on the d-line next year. A lot of rs fresh. DB needs talent and guys that will be ready to play next year
