The Bank (10/16)

Why is everybody so against Emory? Honest question because dude showed he was an absolute gamer last year with a good amount of adversity and shows the accuracy you want in a QB. Is he Cam? No Cam might be the most talented QB in school history but there's this mindset he'll almost bring the team down who should have an really good oline, elite rb room, if Arroyo returns thr best the room in the country and a wr group that aby top portal guy should want to come to

He started two games: against Clemson we did everything to make the game easy for him and he passed for 150. We won because our defense got it done. Against FSU his accuracy netted him a 39% percentage and half of his 175 passing yards came on a lucky pass to George. He just isn’t very talented and if he is our QB next year, we are in trouble. Thankfully I don’t think that will be the case.

There is no guarantee we get another great portal QB, regardless of the amount of money. We almost didn't get Cam. We will undoubtedly regress next year if we don't get a solid QB. Emory is not the answer. That's how I would negative against us. Any objective parent would understand that.
We'll "regress" at qb next year no matter who comes to the U and no matter who plays. Not many Cam Wards out there----I think 1

A gamer?! 🤣 we took it back to 1940 when he was our qb and gutted out an absolute stinker against Clemson and then lost a close one against fsu because we couldn’t push the ball downfield more than 5 yards outside of a very lucky George reception that should have been a pick.

He could be developing nicely but calling him a gamer based on those 2 games last year is hilarious

We might get another good portal QB. If we do, we should have another good year. We might not. Other teams will pay for said QB too. We need to get to a point where we can play our recruited QBs. I understand this takes time given the shape of our program when Mario took over. He hasn't recruited QB very well. Emory is light years behind Cam. If he's our guy, I expect regression. Not FSU level regression, but regression. I can see teams recruiting against us using that.
Cam gives us proof of concept which makes bringing someone good into the fold much easier. We just have to hope the portal qb crop is deep enough where if we don't get the best option the next best guy is still very good. Cam's success puts at or at least very close to the front of the line.

Ill just say this: I'll bet you guys said Luke Altmyer, Kyle McCord, Cade Klubnik, Kurtis Rourke and Eli Holstein were bums and they've combined for 96 total touchdowns, 18 interceptions and led their teams to 30-3 records when they were all backups or called busts last year. With that said I'll let y'all cook while I just hope these facts can warm my stove

"Absolute gamer"?! No.. he didn't...

You might be right about that. It also means Emory and Judd will likely never play here. We better hope Nickel is for real. I don't like portal shopping for a QB every year.

Agree, which is frustrating in year 4 under Mario. Going backwards isn't ideal. We need another top level QB recruit in the 26 class.

Nickel is definitely talented. I like the mental intangibles he brings. And the Coleman kid for the 2026 class looks like a major stud. One more portal guy next year then a qb competition between Nickel & Coleman should bode well. I remember at OU they got Baker & Kyler as transfers before landing Caleb Williams so a template already exists for what we're doing.

Newsflash, no matter who we get at QB next season, there will be a massive regression.

Im hoping Ewers splits reps going forward
And isn’t a guarantee first round pick and he portals out
Would be best case scenario for us
Absolute worst case would be rolling with emory as qb 1 next year

McCord, Holstein, and Klubnik were highly touted out HS and talented. Emory was always a project. He had a teammate WR that was committed to UGA and signed with the SEC as well. Everyone got to seem him and the only people impressed was us and particularly Josh Gatt-***.

It’s always possible he develops and surprises but nothing says that based on him as a prospect and what we saw last year.

I am the biggest we need a transfer guy like Drones next year, that you cant go with Emory next year, but never underestimate development and learning behind a pro like Cam.
Maybe Emory surprises in 2026, he looked night and day better and more comfortable this season

He was also playing against awful awful comp. Anything can happen but we need to be honest with ourselves that it’s wishful thinking.

Don't disagree, but he looked very good, Poff played and looked lost
I wouldn't go into 2025 with Emory, but I think he's developing fine based on what we saw
