The 2014 Dade QB situation

Way too early to start worrying about this, but it's going to be extremely interesting how it plays out.

Flowers is already a legend. Jackson isn't a current powerhouse, but he's the type of kid you just feel like we should land or else he's gonna go somewhere else and have the ESPN guys spewing diarrhea about how he's from Miami. An elite athlete in our backyard.

Harris, for better or worse, is tied to one of the most UM-oriented families in Dade county. Two brothers and a dad. QBing one of the best 3 HS teams in So Fla that's loaded with talent, with a daddy who is pivotal with regards to perception down there.

Eduoard, might be better than either of those two at QB.

I'm not sure any of these guys stick at QB long run (feel like Eduoard probably will), but it's going to be hugely entertaining to see how our staff juggles this.

From my initial look at these guys, Winky will get an offer for here but not to play QB.

Harris is going elsewhere - he is not a D1A QB recruit that we want.

Eduoard has the highest cieling of the 3. I can see us recruiting both Winky and Edouard as QBs but Winky will be the "athlete" and Alain will remain at QB.
 
Edouard does have the highest ceiling, good to see us get on him now as it seems he ill be at the junior day this coming saturday (he didnt get invited to the first one). Not sure how we will play it moving forward with numbers and if we will try to get 2 qbs. But if we only take one I would lean Edouard slightly. But that is just off film, want to see him play in person

My initial evaluation is the same as your's. Problem is once those kids get the legend tag, like Winky, they sometimes aren't as excited about being the 'athlete'. I hope the sell on our part is that we bring them both in to try for QB. Then that begs... how confident are we that either is really the potential trigger man for us? If Olsen were to come in and maybe not set the world on fire, it would become imperative that we land a potential starter quality QB. Do we feel that level of confidence with either of these? I'm not entirely sure yet.

Big Ice is not an alum, just Lil Ice and Brandon.

I want Winky and Alin and I think both can play QB at Miami. Winky is too dynamic of an athlete to not give him an opportunity to compete. He could also make an impact at WR or DB.

Winky claims a Miami offer already. Told CaneInsider he received it from Barrow at Junior Day last month.
 
We are not going to sign two QBs next year unless someone transfers out. I can see us taking Flowers and Eduoard, but one of them is going to end up an ATH. A lot is also going to depend on what comes of the NCAA mess. If we do eny up with any scholie losses, I cant see us wasting more scholies on more than one QB if we already are going to have 4 on the roster. Even without the limits, I think 6 QBs on a roster is too much. We need more bodies at RB, DE, LB, and other positions before a 6th QB. I think we take one, though I can see us taking one as an ATH then moving them.

Yeah, that's why I put "UM-oriented" rather than alum. And I agree, Winky deserves a shot. He's either a program-changing type at QB or Anquan Boldin Jr at WR.

Sorry I misunderstood.

The last time Jackson had a baller I wanted (Robensen Therezie), I ended up butthurt cause he went elsewhere to play ball. I really hope Winky stays home and plays for the Canes.

Fair point C4L. I say bring in both as QBs and let competition decide who seeks shelter elsewhere or who redshirts.

Assuming we take a big full class (25+) I think we will take Winky for sure, offer Harris, and maybe Edouard. Winky will be given a shot at QB if he wants but his future is elsewhere. Edouard if offered is a pure QB. Who the **** knows what the deal will be with Harris but I dont see us not taking him if he wants in. Harris could be the guy who makes Ice and everyone else cut the **** and clean up the relationship with Golden. For that alone he is a must take if he wants to be here.
 
I'd be willing to be $$ that we take Flowers commitment early. Golden knows how important superstars are and that this is the type of kid other kids want to play around. Tell that kid everything he wants to hear and give him a legit shot at QB.

Gimme Winky and Edourd as a project and call it a day. Treon can come if he is willing to play DB from day 1.

This. Great point. Duke gave us Tracy and Deon and Winky is that type of guy from the perspective of the type of reputation he has locally.

Edouard seems best to me, but I feel like you said, that winky will become a baller if he goes to Louisville or WV

Flowers. And I would like to see him get a shot at QB

Not crazy about Eduoard like everyone seems to be. Flowers in the only kid down here I like.

Harris is a DB/WR
 
I think its safe to assume Treon is not coming here. Not only has our staff, but pretty much the entire Cane nation has gone to war with the Harris family. Cant see this kid coming here after the events of the last few weeks.
 
From what I heard, those miami boys aren't even in freebeck's league.... baller
 
Much as I would like to sign Flowers, I think we need to relize that any kid **** bent on playing QB, may get scared looking at our depth chart. In that case, Edouard may be the best bet, since the kid really seems to like the Canes and seems like the type who will be happy with an offer and the opportunity, no matter who else we have here.

Winky seems like the kind of kid who may get talked into thinking he WILL be a QB in college, and sold a bill of goods by WVU or UL. Just speculating at this point, but a lot will depend on how badly Flowers wants to play QB.
