Texas A&M's #1 class of all time ... 3 years later

We did not boot JHH and Roberts. We wanted Roberts but he left because he wanted more playing time, despite him being in line to have more playing time. JHH left because he wanted more NIL, we gave that money to Barrow. Idk why people keep running with this narrative that we encouraged every single transfer to leave. Same with Colby Young. We wanted to keep Colby, but we weren't willing to pony up more money to keep him here. Pretty much replaced him with Sam Brown.
People run with narratives to combat other narratives - one of which was that any player that left was not attrition or players not wanting to play for Mario - but something more pro-Mario - like the player was a cancer or problem or encouraged to leave.

This is where roster management and development play a role in the outcome/problem -- if we develop B Smith and use him, we don't need to go hit the portal for Martinez to fill a "need". Same with some of the defensive players on SMU (for example) -- money may wash, but the focus shifts to other holes or not having to replace the pieces/depth.

Our defensive had tons of holes to fill - JHH, Roberts and Harvey make the defense better than it was - it also allows you to negotiate from a better position in the portal and/or focus more in different directions.

MANY posters also discounted anything former Miami players and Lashlee achieved as a lower level than Miami -- well last year that may be true conference wise, but this year, they walked in and play for the ACC Championship tonight while we sit and watch them.

I think almost all of the guys left for more playing time and literally nobody that went to SMU that was a difference maker other than B Smith who didn't want to play RB at Miami.

Roberts was good last year and a JAG this year.

Harvey was a JAG for us last year and a JAG for SMU this year.

JHH wasn't even a JAG for us last year and elevated himself to a JAG at SMU.

K Smith was a JAG for Miami and a JAG at SMU with a whopping 499 yards receiving in 12 games.

Brinson/Knighton were/are non-factors.

No one is saying they are top drafts picks, but thats a lot of JAGs for a team playing for the conference championship.

No one is talking about Knighton and Smith.

If Harvey's 6.5 sacks make him a JAG, what does that say about Miami's defensive line that no one as that many. All JAGs too?

Baron had the same amount and everyone thinks he sucks. #DoBetter

Him Barrow and Messidor all had 5.5. Miami finsihed 15th in the country in Sacks per game, which suprised me when i saw it.

SMU finished 11th

Considering SMU’s defense was way better than ours, I don’t think we can just write off any of the guys that left here to play there.

1. Lack of development

2. I TRULY believe your recruiting class HAS to have chemistry and get along. These kids were all bag chasing and probably never ***ked with each other. You hear all the time of recruiting classes having group chats.

3. Some kids just aren’t good in the grand scheme of things
#2 starts with HC. Jimbo’s culture was never a good one.

A whole lot of money waisted on this class. This is where I see our staff’s point on not over spending but fear it’s becoming a necessary evil in today’s game.

Jimbo went full on mercenary mode that year - several of those 5* kids were low character kids. It’s one thing to gamble on 1 and hope the team culture can help him to grow - but it’s another when almost half of the top end of your class are known kids with behavioral issues. Stewart/Marshall/Harris/Bouie - like that’s 4 of your top 8-9 kids in the class and all were suspended at some point. Like Bouie isn’t even in a program right now - UGA sent him home before season even started last year and that’s saying something
STEWART IF YOUR TALKING BOUT SHEMAR HE DIDNT HAVE BEHAVIOR CONCERNS JUST DIDNT WANT TO COME HERE
