Absolutely, if you remember that season, they beat Alabama and after that all those big money Texas boosters went all in on that recruiting class for them and it turned out like crap. Lol Recruiting is always a gamble, sometimes you hit and sometimes you miss!

Jimbo went full on mercenary mode that year - several of those 5* kids were low character kids. It’s one thing to gamble on 1 and hope the team culture can help him to grow - but it’s another when almost half of the top end of your class are known kids with behavioral issues. Stewart/Marshall/Harris/Bouie - like that’s 4 of your top 8-9 kids in the class and all were suspended at some point. Like Bouie isn’t even in a program right now - UGA sent him home before season even started last year and that’s saying something

I think a lot of these guys didn’t pan out because they didn’t have a veteran example in front of them to show them how to work and it was a bunch of talented freshman trying to learn on the fly.

HS recruiting is somewhat of a crapshoot now

So many of these “top recruits” get their rankings based on 7 on 7 play, just being way more talented than their competition in high school aka being able to half *** it

Being successful at the next level takes alot more work that a lot of these guys aren’t accustomed to putting in

Players like Jeremiah smith who are 5 Star talents and 5 Star work ethic are very hard to find now
