This is not directed at OP or anyone else in specific. The hand wringing over CB recruiting has gotten to be a bit much. I get that we are all Golden and D'ohNo-ized...

We were short on depth in this department (like where weren't we lacking depth and talent?) when CMR got here.

Due to Malek Young's career ending injury, we still are. But look at how MJ played last year, after we all gave him up for dead. Look what Bandy became AS A TRUE FRESHMAN. We got Frierson, Ivey, Blades last year. Being in SoFla, as long as we evaluate well and don't get left with our d!ck's in our hands too often by turncoats/guys like TC, we are going to be just fine at this position.

I'm saving my hand wringing for QB, OT, and DT. Everywhere else...

Here's what got to be understood, a football player is a football player, getting to caught up in what they weigh in highschool, 140 to 145 is real common for highschool db's and wideouts, plus at 140 to 145 that's all muscle and not weak. Also, he's going into his senior year, so he'll probably be round 150 when he leaves. But again, if coach rumph wants him, their is a reason, we back to recruiting guys that mentally belong here and wont fold. We didnt have enuff of them in recent times past, we all the way back to it now, coach richt is not shying away from nothing, in fact he has reattached the past players we the current to the future players, which means the championship alignment is back. In year 2 people were saying how surprised they were at the season we had, this year, we stay healthy, this is when we start beginning to instill the fear back into opponents. Once this o-line situation gets better, im not worried about rosier, he's already proven we can win with him, and he definitely has earned more respect from coach richt, for a guy to be told "you'll never play for me" and not transfer but fight everyday and win the starting job and hold on to it, and become the clear cut starter, i can roll with him, plus it's always something to be said about being apart of several clutch plays.

We know he has made mistakes but he keeps on fighting, we can win the whole thing with him.

Normally, I'd roll right past a post with this kind of formatting, but I'm glad I didn't with this one. Thinking back to how Schnelly and Jimmy made the U, THE U, this post really nails it on the head with what Richt is doing and how we are recruiting.

Take the boys who have something to prove. Take the ones who don't know HOW to back down. The ones who know how to "put someone's *** in check". I LOVELOVELOVE what we are doing lately recruiting the top dogs out of Duval County. You want to see a place in Florida that's got a chip on its shoulder and some grit? Come check out 904. Now I'm not saying Jacksonville is Compton or Overtown or anything like that, but the kids we're recruiting out of here know how to work, are humble, yet they want to and know how to stand out. You don't see none of that Broward County prima-donna buuullsh!t.

It sucks when we lose guys like TS, TC, Judas, etc. I'm not gonna say it doesn't sting and grind my gears. It should. But you know what, for every TC that goes to Jawwjeeeya to get his pay day up front, I'll sleep alright knowing that we still got a Bandy, a DJ Ivey, a Couch, who feels overlooked, wants to put on for his city, and knows what to do when ND's quarterback pops the pill right into their gut on national TV in the loudest stadium anyone has ever heard. You house that ****, bring down the roof, burst some eardrums on some ND girls, and get your name known for being a badass that plays for The U. That's what you do.

Been waiting on Couch to be a commit since last summer before he even had a offer, great evaluation credit the staff.

CB dont worry me. Rumph has showed me he can develop kids. NO ONE thought MJ was going to be this good.we are young at the position but by next year we should be very good.

A RS year with our strength coaches he will be fine in physical development. Look at what some of the EEs did this year from the defensive backfield in added muscle 10-20 pounds and that in about 7 months.

G8rh8rMD, you already know man, on that bandy play, it was a. Bunch of things on that play to luv man, you didnt even have to put the picture up, as soon as you said "bursting some girls eardrums" i already knew what part you were talking about, LoL, that family was ready to leave after that "Welcome to Miami" play, that made em sick, Go Home!

Also, the one thing we know, its real nephews all over Florida, one of the realest to ever do it was only about 60 miles out from Orlando and that's JEROME BROWN outta Brooksville. What we back to doing now is gathering the majority of the real players from South florida and certain other parts back to Coral Gables so we can get done back to what we need to get done. Its only a matter of time, im just enjoying the road back, im not worried at all about what recruit dont come here, its the ones that do that matters most.

For instance, this how i am with it, depending on what happens at ohigho fake, if jordan battle tries to come to UM now, i'd tell em, naw, we good, we going with cornelius nunn. Cause his heart is elsewhere, same with tc, ps, i didnt care they went up the road, we good over here. Same with ts, if he wants to go up the road, that's on him, this train gone be straight with or without em. We might get beat up a lil bit this year at corner, we might, but the talent level an speed is already coming back and more on the way.

Its almost comical to me how gurvan hall is almost a forgotten man, but if he stays healthy, he wont be for long.

Nunn is committed to Syracuse. Battle is committed to Ohio State. Why is it ok for one to flip but not the other?

Not as high on him as the other guys....but the staff has been on him from the jump so they must see something they like immensey.Seems to been on their board regardless of whom around.

Good question, although late, we put the full court press on battle at camp and the times he cae down and in the end he still chose ohigho fake so obviously that's where his heart is at, and even now they in wait and see mode, i only want players who want to be here. He will always keep his eye out for what ohigho fake is doing. On the other hand we really didnt recruit nunn, but once we did, he was ready to almost immediately to stay home, he only committed to the cuse because he wasnt really recruited by us, but he wants to stay home and be here, he all Cane. He wants to be in that Orange & Green, no Blue involved. I didnt care that tc & ps jr rolled out of state, let them go where their heart is. Same with ts if he doesnt come, we gone be good over here no matter what. The players that want to be here are the players that will normally give their all. I celebrate the ones who we get, could careless about who dont come. Coach richt and company are recruiting the right way, its only a matter of time, bring in nunn and be done!

Also think about it, this guy and some of his family was good with oscar cryer over coach richt, they deserve to be in columbus. Now nunn has an in-house battle, supposedly a few family members dont want him at uM cause of their Fsu ties, that's hold up with him.

Nice that for a kid his size he's not afraid to stick his nose in there and mix things up. Buddy's got some sick closing speed too

Gus will get him right and then it's a wrap. Not worried about his weight at all. Elite cover ability, really good speed and not afraid to stick his nose in there. Has all the traits that you look for in a top flight CB.

People lose sleep over TC and TS and while it would be lovely to have them, I think our DB room is coming along nicely. Plenty of Miami Hurricane caliber DBs already on the squad and more(including Couch) on the way.

Glad to see another Cane not worried about the guys that bailed out. I been tired and have always been tired of the highschool ranking system, 5 star this or 4 star that, we'll see when they get on the field and than go from their. Its going to be funny though if jadon haselwood signs here, just the fact that itll just add to the competition, with the way recruiting is going at wideout, all our db's will have no choice but to get better an become real 4 & 5 star players otherwise they will continue to get cooked in practice. Going against Ahmon, jeff thomas, cager, harley, and now pope and hightower that'll get you ready for alot.

The thing about being in So Florida is we can miss on a lot of top guys and generally still bring in a very good DB class. That was the case for the '18 class and it looks like it will be the case for the '19 class.

Don't get me wrong -- it's a shame we're not getting those top-rated guys and I am skeptical of the sales ability of our DB coaches. But at the same time I think we'll be more than alright at DB.
