2025 Tarvos “TJ” Alford II LB from Ft. Pierce sticks w/OSU

But Stubbs and safety was a huge need even if we project Day there right?

Oh I'm in agreement on not starting next year. I think the talent is comparable, although I'm a huge Patterson fan and am fine with you saying that. I'm just saying, we're thin at safety either way, it's one of the biggest needs on the roster. I mean I think it's reasonable that one of Williams or Harris aren't in a UM uniform next year and either way, I think Harris needs to never be a top 3 safety on this team again if he stays. He was pretty the worst player on the D imo.

I don't expect a single HS player that we signed to start next year…Although I believe SJ has a chance and Nickle has a slim slim chance.

You are right Miami is NOT broke. We do have money and although it was a bad look losing Stubbs in a week where the bad news was snowballing , Wiley is a better LB than Nix and was at the very top of their defensive board.

They do love Josh Moore and see him as elite.

They land Alford and that's like the third year in a row we flip OSU for another guy that this staff thinks the world of.

IDK Pickett's situation if he signed or not but if we land him thats a top 10 class.

even if we only land Wiley and Alford its a solid class with money for the portal.

The issue is not that we dont have money we do. We have a select group of big time donors spending.. I think our issue is with getting more buy in from our own fan base to contribute.

We are a good with NIL BUT we are not tier 1 .

That belongs to Oregon/Texas/ Texas A&M and possibly Michigan now with Ellison jumping in. I think people judge Miami through that lense and it feels we are not that program.

A lot of cap space will open up as well once our upper classmen and some juniors declare for the NFL and other portal bound kids jump in, I think we can have a very solid portal class and I rather get a multi year proven safety than an unknown wuantity in Stubbs who people here have seen live and been MEH about. Allocate resources wisely and see if you can replicate another 10'win season.

Stop with "losing" stubbs. stubbs played a game that worked for his boy French but not for him. He contacted UF and asked them for an offer. it was HUGE. he went back to us and we didnt want to counter "for him". his boy French played the same game and Texas stepped up.
Not being willing to spend is not a loss imo. Dallas Wilson and Ben Hanks were loses. we wanted them bad and were offering huge money.
I know people who swore we were losing Moore on Sunday night, Mariowould not accept losing Moore. he got the money.
Toney is playing a game now but we will still spend for him it seems (again, its not first time we did this) Stubbs we wouldnt over spend.
I have been fair here. I have said Nix was a take when the board felt he wasnt. Stubbs has a high bust risk and they didnt want to go crazy.
Plus seeing that kid in the interview, I doubt you want that kid running your secondary.

Fair enoough

I was a Nix fan too… Would have liked to seen more thump in senior film, but checks all the other boxes as a Mike imo. Oregon getting a good one.
