Targets Commitment Dates

For everyone saying “if we dont get a top __ class ill be disappointed” what if we’re outside of the top 10 but have a top 5 blue chip ratio, are u still disappointed?
class rankings mean nothing IMO. they're a starting point to a more nuanced conversation on evaluation & roster construction.
what does a #10 class built of slot receivers and interior oline do for you? or a class in the top 10 where you wiff in the secondary & qb?

I'll take a #10 class where we have elite difference makers at all 3 levels on offense & defense vs a #5 class that looks like a 7on7 team

i think we can get a consensus on this board that a Mario top 10 class will look a lot different than a Manny 1 did...

the ONLY reason Manuela was able to get #11 was due to the pandemic. Even Chase Smith said out of his own mouth that he wouldn't have picked Miami if he was able to do more visits etc.

I was waiting for the excuses to start rolling in. Here we go…

Yeah. I knew I expected this. I expect John Walker to do the same. It’s really possible the trio (LeBlanc, Jackson, and Walker) ends up playing together in college. My guess would be UF or Penn State at this point. But LeBlanc in my opinion is going to OU, so I doubt that’s the plan trio.

Side note: Braeden Marshall is by far the best CB in Orlando area and I think Miami should be making a push but it’s a bit too late as Clemson and UNC looks to be his top 2.

I think the staff has zeroed in on Cormani as the #1 target at CB. Then Brown from Heritage and Prolly Braxton. I was looking at the CB board. Bama, Ohio, Texas A&M, UGA.....they all have atleast 2 CBs committed. UF has 1 but i don't see him going there with their current state. I made a post last night if that's gonna play a part for Cormani as we prolly made him a huge priority.

With LeBlanc seemingly trending elsewhere, DT seems like the biggest question mark to me. We don't appear to be the odds on favorite to land any DTs right now. We have a shot at a bunch of them but none of them appear to be leaning Miami's way.

Lots of talk about LB and CB boards being concerning but:

LB - We have Bobby and in a good chance to land at least another good player with the likes of Stanquan. Potentially could get an elite player if Malik picks us.
CB - Also concerning but similar to the above, sounds like we have a good chance to land at least 2 solid players (Damari and Stafford).
I feel like Mario is still big game hunting at all positions. DT being right up there with QB and OL as most coveted positions it may take a ten win season and competitive ACCCG appearance to land the whales. I don't believe he will settle for plan B type kids this early in the cycle.

Note on the class ranking back and forth. Alot of teams can get high rankings by getting way more players than other teams. What is a better indicator is our rank per recruits. Getting it 91-92 and above would be a real indicator that our recruiting has risen. Last class it was 91.79. What's the points of getting 30 players when only 12 make an impact and only 2 drafted. Better getting 21 and 15 make and impact and 5-7 drafted.

cant really tell one way or the other if youre implying that the 3 stars that were vetted by Highsmith and our great collection of coaches, are dead weight

either way, fighting clemson and lsu for 3 stars early in the process, to me means that the star rankings are imperfect

No that's not what I'm saying at all. You need those quality underrated players, but most of the top players are rated correctly and we need more of those and are getting them

Update: King Mack removed, committed to Penn St. Will revisit if we decide to pursue. Kerrington Lee also removed. Committed to WF, lower ranked player, doubt we are after him. Bai Jobe also went Bye Jobe. Did not name us in his top 3.
