Targets Commitment Dates

Could've sworn our 2020 class was roughly 16th & 2022 was about 15th, but maybe it jumped to 13 with Colbie Young added to the mix. 7-12 should be where Mario lives in recruiting ranking while here.
This makes no sense to me. If manuela managed to close #11 classes I expect top 10 for a x3 better recruiter in Mario for his bump class, with no class limit, easily af. I mean you don’t even think he’ll jump more than 3 spots from a class he salvaged when he literally had no staff?

Top 10 this year, and we should be aiming for top 5 as we get rolling in the coming 2-3. We absolutely did not hire this guy to “live in” our previous floor.

the ONLY reason Manuela was able to get #11 was due to the pandemic. Even Chase Smith said out of his own mouth that he wouldn't have picked Miami if he was able to do more visits etc.

We had the #8 ranked class in 2018..that was during the '17 season when we rose to #2 and the turnover chain came out and then we fell flat on our faces by losing the last 3 games.

So assuming we have regular 10-2 seasons and Mario is a better recruiter than Richt and has more resources, then #8 should be our floor.

That's the overall ranking which includes transfers

Our ranking probably depends on how much kids we actually take this year
The new formulas mitigate the advantage of taking a ton of kids. The 2012 class which was #10 and was crazy top heavy would not have been ranked as high.
According to 247:
2020 finished with the #11 ranked class
2021 finished with the #11 ranked class
2022 finished with the #13 ranked class (Mario's group)

I expect a Top 10 class in 2023. Anything less would be a disappointment
I expect a top 7 class but the gap between the haves and have nots is increasing this year because of NIL which is ironic. Usually in a year, only a couple teams reach 300 or so points. Last year 4 teams reached that mark. We have a shot at teaching 300 and probably don’t end up with a top 5 class. Basically, ranking matters but to truly value the talent look at the points.

Note on the class ranking back and forth. Alot of teams can get high rankings by getting way more players than other teams. What is a better indicator is our rank per recruits. Getting it 91-92 and above would be a real indicator that our recruiting has risen. Last class it was 91.79. What's the points of getting 30 players when only 12 make an impact and only 2 drafted. Better getting 21 and 15 make and impact and 5-7 drafted.

The new formulas have fixed that issue. The more players you get the lower points each one adds.

Yeah, play with the 247 class calculator. Check how many points a player like Jalen brown gets you when there are 13 guys committed vs 26. As they list them it will tell you how many he is worth but that’s not what gets added all the time.

Facts. People need to throw that 2021 class out the **** window. The biggest recruiting outlier ever seen.
We also had momentum with D'eriq as a "dark-horse Heisman contender".

Manny's class was absolutely fraudulent.

While Manny gets no credit for the actual recruitment of the class and I am definitely not shootin that guy any bail money, but if we didnt have that class, this would be a major rebuild for Mario. So however you want to view Manny...that 2021 class is the reason we have some hope that this could be just a one year fix for Mario.
