SWEET SIXTEEN V HOUSTON - FRIDAY AT 7:15

I see a lot of similarities between our Canes and the Houston Cougars. They have 4-5 guys that average double digit points per game and that group is led by Sasser (who averages around 17+ ppg and is deadly when he gets into a rhythm). One of our keys will be devising ways to slow him down. If we can do that, we have a shot to keep them under 85 points. They are athletic, fast and create turnovers by playing press man on D. When they get a rash of turnovers that's when they blow games wide open (very similar to what we did to IU tonight and Drake at the end of that game).

The tallest guy on their roster is 6'9". They have some size on the inside but nothing Norchad can't handle (he plays much bigger than his 6'7" size when he's fired up like tonight). Norchad will play an absolutely crucial role in this game. Rebounding on both ends of the court & turnovers will be super important.

Houston is going to score serious points. Our shot selection will need to be very strong (cannot be wasting opportunities) and we'll have to be tenacious on D and create more turnovers than them to win.

We match up well with Houston. Our guys must play a super smart game & help their teammates out through strong off-the-ball movement to beat the press & avoid turnovers. We can absolutely win this game if we come out loose & firing and play the same way we did today against IU.

This game has the potential to be one of the most fun & intense games in the history of Miami basketball. Buckle your seatbelts as it should be a wild ride. Go Canes!!
Houston lost to Memphis Sasser was out, and they couldn't score: they are basically a shoot and go get the ball of the boards. They are tough on defense, they create offense of their defense. Protect the ball.

Does UM have a ticket allotment? Haven’t seen anything from the ticket office but I’m just an out of state football season tix holder. Considering trying to make the trip.

The ticket order form should be in your account. An e-mail was already sent.

I could be wrong but I don’t think this Miami group thinks too much about the other team. They want to win it all they have seen success co champs of the ACC and now seeing where they can go there are no limits. They want to be the best not because they are told things but they are striving for bigger things now and cannot or will not be stopped. Houston is just another team in the way now. The train has left the station folks and it ain’t stopping for no one or nobody.✊🦍

As per usual, the Ticket Office is really on top of things...

This is my confirmation e-mail on the Sweet 16/Elite 8 ticket order. Nobody bothered to update the e-mail from last week...

Thanks. I’ve got nothing in email or my online account. I didn’t buy any hoops tickets this year so maybe that’s the reason. Probably wouldn’t get a chance at any as well.

Check your junk mail.

The only games I bought tickets to were UCF and GaTech away game, which were officially purchased from THOSE SCHOOLS (via links on the Orlando and Atlanta Alumni Association Facebook pages). In theory, UM doesn't know that I've been to any games this year, they only know that I'm in the Hurricane Club and have season tickets for football.

It doesn't matter the number in front of the team now. It is irrelevant. There is not a single team left, maybe Princeton, who you can play down to and beat.

We are coming to play - I have no doubt. Other than 1 game in November we have come to play each and every game this season. We find ways to win and we win close games. It is that simple.

Houston must play their A game if they are to beat us. The B game is not getting it done. ESPN has it at 90/10 Houston. The pressure is not on us.

Indiana is not as bad as homer run of the mill Canes fans think. We did the same thing to Auburn last year. The team was one Kansas buzz saw away from a Final 4.

IMO this will be the game of the tourney - other than Houston Bama if that happens.

Houston is a great team but I don’t think Coach Sampson is a better coach than Coach L.

Looked at their schedule and saw they had multiple 3-4 possession games. Some common opponents: UCF x 2 (2 Ws, by 7 and 11) and UVA (W by 8). They were 2-1 against Memphis, all close games. They beat St. Mary’s by 5.

We shall see what Coach L cooks up: all the pressure is on Houston to get to the Final Four in their backyard.

Houston has been thoroughly unimpressive for 75% of this tourney.

They're a strong, athletic team, but so are we.

Imo they're definitely beatable.
Miami and houston have literally the same results in the tournament so far. 1st game was a dud regardless of Houston’s injuries to key players. Miami came out flat against drake. Houston came out slow and held auburn to4 field goals the entire second half. Miami dominated an outmatched Indiana team. Not much difference. Shead and sasser should be healthier Friday.

I agree with your assessment. Coach Sampson preaches lethal simplicity. All that means to me is that he’s gonna make zay wong play point guard instead of shooting guard. That’s the matchup we’ll attack
