Suspensions

Pete said on the last podcast that with Haskins it wasn't anything major, just "Freshman stuff"...

Look, I know a lot of you guys got a hard on for player discipline & think that not being able to repeat every Bible verse by heart is grounds for expulsion, but at some point we can't just always bash players because they make mistakes.

I don't know why people think these players are always supposed to perfect little choir boys, this ain't BYU...

I'm not saying that players should be able to do whatever they want without consequence, but this idea that you just kick kids off the team for the slightest infraction is just crazy to me.

I think as long as they don't beat a woman, commit sexual assault, or get arrested on some kind of felony charge, then they should be good.

I'm not saying it's okay for them to be criminals, but small little stuff imo isn't worthy of them being suspended or kicked off the team.

I'm with you as a guiding principle for the initial violations. Players shouldn't be put in doghouses with one foot out the door over petty ****. But I'm fine with Rick's apparent intolerance for repeat violators- even if the subsequent infractions are minor. At some point these guys have to respect the opportunity they've been given and respect how he does things. At least he has a resume too that should demand a little respect. I can see why they'd buck Alfredo's demands for it- especially when he never held himself accountable for anything too.

Keep chipping away, get rid of the kids that don't get it! These are not
kids, they are young men who signed scholarships to play football and be
Models for the City of Miami!

Yea keep chipping away until we don't have enough depth to win the coastal...That's not always the best answer for a team lacking depth....There needs to be some type strict punishment program to keep them away from trouble...Miami will never get back to the top dismissing serviceable depth for minor offenses...the staff must be careful.....we all know the banners will fly after one or two more mediocre seasons...

Huge difference between being suspended for a game, and being kicked off the team. I know there is a lot of discussion of whether they are kids or young men. The truth is they are in transition to adulthood. They don't all progress at the same rate in that area. You absolutely must apply the rules to all of them equally. The ones who lag behind in the area of maturity are the ones most likely to trip over the rules. And, while you apply the rules equally, you don't approach them all the same way. Each individual has to be handled as an individual (still applying the rules). With potentially 85 scholarship players, this cannot be an easy task. Some players will fall through the cracks.

Watch "Last Chance U" for some insight into how some of these immature kids handle themselves.

Instill discipline when players first step into the program. Players consistently neglecting the small details without being held accountable are unlikely to develop into the player they could become. Failure to do so results in the culture The U suffered from under Coker, Shannon and Golden.

Criminal behavior is another matter. Felonies should have a zero tolerance policy, once the facts are known. Misdemeanors should be handled based on the offense.

Richt needs to relax , these are kids

Then why aren't 70 other "kids" suspended? Why can the overwhelming majority of them do what they're supposed to do?

Because they haven't been caught is my guess . Richt has a history of suspension for bs. Example sam Bruce for something in Highschool was bull****

Followed by Bruce consistently failing to live up to his responsibilities as a member of the team. And his dismissal.

Nothing to do with prior that was bs and control issues .

There are certain dudes who were pretty much on borrowed time from the minute Rick got here. And Willis was one of them.

I said when Rick got hired that I'd be surprised if Willis made it through this season. With Dobard leaving, it'll be a shock if Willis makes it that much longer.

Too bad Rick didn't learn the "boys will be boys" method from Booby Bowel.

Won't be long before Rick runs a few off. He did it regularly at UGA. Why would that pattern change here?

Simply not true. Richt was known for giving kids up to three strikes. Go do your homework.
Edging, you're a dumbass on Christmas I see. Rick ran dudes off regularly at UGA. You can claim he gave them chances, but he ran them off nonetheless. Wake up.

Easy tiger. Lets take a specific example. Crowell was dismissed after being suspended twice and then being arrested for weapons charges on campus no less. There is an example of being given two more chances but not a third. He forced Richts hand.

This is Miami tho -- we boot kids that sneeze wrong. It happened every year and we consistently lose talent. Just from the past I really don't think it has to do with the coaches. I think the compliance department goes overboard.

Should ask them does their brian hurt . Some people only open up their eyes and see what they want to see . Richt over the years suspended lot of his big time talent . That's not going to fly here , us Miami fans are going to go crazy if we continue to lose .
