Why do people on here get their panties in a bunch about this kid Bruce taking visits but when other kids come to Miami its just a free trip? Somebody school me please because I'm new to this. This is my first time following the recruiting process so closely...... these boards are both informative as well as comical.

It isn't a debate on there production. The debate was if we have ever signed a guy this late in the process when it was considered a free trip when they visited. They were all 5 stars that signed with miami when noone thought we had a chance.

The earlier remarks were about whether any recruit had EVER flipped at the last minute from a good football program to UM. There was no condition about how good the recruit eventually turned out to be. The stars and all are maybe not always very reliable. I seem to recall that Antonio Crawford flipped on that same weekend that Tracy did. So last minute flipping is certainly not the norm, but it definitely happens occasionally. The other factor, though, is there is very little downside to having someone visit, so the options are to give up and not try because you think its unlikely to give it a shot.

I doubt we flip the dude this late, but how come everyone who visits here is a "free trip" and everyone who visits somewhere else is going to flip?

Because that's just the way we roll around here. 10+ ****** years of Coker, Shannon, and Golden has basically destroyed the manhood of our fanbase. We used to say this type of **** to a recruit, "Come join us and win or don't come and watch us win". ****, now we're like, "OMG, so and so has set up an official visit at the last minute to Kentucky..... HE gone"!

These kids have no memory of Miami being anything but a ****ty football team.

That is why you bring them in. Show them the trophy case. Let them see videos of championship teams. Let them meet their favorite nfl hall of fame cane from the position they play. I remember Gerald McCoy telling sapp he asked Coker to meet sapp on a visit and it would of been a done deal if Coker made that happen but Coker did not even try.
