That is why you bring them in. Show them the trophy case. Let them see videos of championship teams. Let them meet their favorite nfl hall of fame cane from the position they play. I remember Gerald McCoy telling sapp he asked Coker to meet sapp on a visit and it would of been a done deal if Coker made that happen but Coker did not even try.

I get your point, and we have to try, but This team is gonna have to show something on the field before we start expecting to pull in loaded classes.

Remember when we got superstud RB Robert Strait to visit. Showed up in cowboy boots to Coral Gables, eventually went to Baylor and disappeared.

It isn't a debate on there production. The debate was if we have ever signed a guy this late in the process when it was considered a free trip when they visited. They were all 5 stars that signed with miami when noone thought we had a chance.

None were committed to a top 10 school...

All of our committed kids to the U on other OV this weekend are flipping to that school.

That is the first thing I noticed about Golden at his opening presser-the guy was nervous which I feared would translate to being nervous for big games and maybe the reason he rarely won any.

Richt ,on the other hand was very confident and sure of himself at his presser while not coming off as arrogant.

Re-read what folks like Blackvern stated in this thread....it is about perception of programs and where
they stand in food chain.

These recruits are 18 year olds and all that they remember watching of UM football since they were toddlers
was nothing but mediocrity.
This is not like the 1990s when you could sell a kid on the program's potential because they actually remembered
watching powerful UM programs before the Pell Grant sanctons happened.

So in their eyes, UM is sht in comparison to TCU, Ohio State and most of the SEC programs.
It's no different if/when we bring in a kid on a late OV that is committed to FIU, FAU or USF and we all know
that we have a very good at flipping.

Re-posting my template of Official Visits.

Allow me to write the script for how this recruiting will end up......

1) Kid proclaims UM was his "dream school", grew up with posters of Ray Lewis and Sapp in his room,
watched "TheU" or whatever that production was called, and so on.
2) Starts telling recruiting sites that he is very excited about visiting south Beach, err, UM.
3) On visit, tweets pictures of Orange and Green cookie cake, some views from his hotel, beach with
at least one picture of him throwing up the U.
4) Sunday morning comes, the recruit fanboys start pestering the UM sites, asking for any reports of
how his visit went...none of the sites report anything, claim that he is not picking up the phone calls.
Maybe one site does get to him, and he replies that he's tired and not ready to talk about his trip.
5) A few days later he reaffirms his commitment to LSU. Says it's home and always wanted to play
in front of his mom.

MedleyCane, there's something to be said for watching Canes in the NFL dominate/become key players even after misuse in college. Although they might have grown up watching "mediocrity" - there is an inherited mystique to the U. Knowing a dominant defense might be imminent, I think it does have real value.

I don't disagree.
It's better than nothing and alot of those NFL ballers like Sean Taylor, Wilfork, Devin Hester, Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Portis,
etc are/were very charismatic to these kids who grew up watching the NFL.
Nonetheless, this program needs to get beyond mediocrity ASAP and, also, folks need to start supporting this program - especially
at the gate....pictures of 500 people in the stands doesn't help.

this is wrong. all wrong. its not true. once a team changes coaches perception changes anyways. jim harbaugh going to michigan immediatly made them a team kids wanted to play for, michigan had been down for over 10 yrs. hasn't wont a title since bo schembechler i believe.

changing coaches helps. kids today know coaches as much as they do programs. when art briles took over baylor they hadn't made a bowl game or won more then 6 games in a season in almost 20 plus years. baylor was horrid. he has them as a top 10 team. when gary patterson took over tcu they weren't even a power 5 team. now they are top 10

kids know today they can help build a program and will come to help that. miami has a coach kids know won 10 games on avg a yr at georgia he has a good rep with them and kids love him. mark richt gets kids to nfl also. coach kool is a top dl coach who kids know gets kids to nfl and 1st round picks. thats perception with this staff.

take into account kids in south florida want to go to miami. u hear it every year. kids saying they grew up canes fans. there parents are canes fans. your perception argument in garbage because coach richt's perception is high enough to combat any down years from miami.

golden was reeling in top 15 classes year in year out while he lost regularly. richt changes perception of miami by himself.
