Substance v. Appearance

Nah I’m okay with then dancing, to an extent anyway. These are kids and they should be able to have fun. And that’s what made me fall in love with this team way back when. We’re gonna kick your @ss, have fun AND let ya know it
I guess I saw too much of it when we were getting drubbed by the scrubs. Now I'm as anti-dance as an Amish elder who accidentally walked into a club. ;)

I get your point, though. I want them to have fun. I just want them to have fun winning.

To quote a great Rush song “If you choose not to decide you still have made a choice.”

Not having chains, rings and slogans is as conscious a decision as having them. Eliminating or embracing them means nothing if you lose.

Just win.
I thought the song said, "If you choose not to go 15-0, you still have gone 15-0."

Manny was all appearance. Yachts, slip and slide, turnover chains and rings, all of which could have been great if he had won and won well.

I suspect we'll see a different ethos within the football program. Here's a good quote from mario:

“I don’t think culture can ever be a T-shirt, a tagline, a slogan. People all the time ask, ‘What’s your slogan?’ I don’t need a slogan,” Cristobal said. “Why don’t you just get your butt up at 4:30 in the morning and get your butt to work. I don’t think anybody’s really focusing on, ‘Hey, bring back the old days.’ We want to launch Miami into the future with a lot of those principles and values. Because great principles and values stand the test of time.”

The only thing we need back about the old days are to win football games with a loaded roster.

2022 and beyond can never look like the world did in the 1980's, 1990's or even early 2000's—so there's nothing to get "back"—just a winning culture, which Mario is all about.

Slogans are for high school teams that never win anything

Saban explained it perfectly when it came to the culture he is trying to build: He does not care about the result, he cares about the process. Good process leads to good results but there wont be good results if there is no good process.

Breath of fresh air, that's for sure. I am SICK of having a catchy slogan every year. Sick of chains and rings and any other trinket you can think of. I want my team to work harder than the other team, so when the time comes, they beat the other team.
To be fair the guys were in shape and never quit, most of of their shortcomings were from the sidelines…if you get my drift.
