Story about Mario Cristobal

I don't blame Mario one bit for leaving

Would you rather stay with golden and be fired or win with Satan and build your resume.

Now he's the HC of one of the top jobs in the country
I hate this defense of Mario’s actions. If Mario already knew that Golden was terrible and bad for his career then why did he take the job in the first place? You can try to rationalize it all you wat but at the end of the day Mario ****ed on his alma mater. **** him.

Yep. Dummies defending Beanerdict's treason by pointing out that it was career suicide to work for Folden. He never should have taken the job if that was the case.
So you would chose to work for Golden and help him get recruits that he wasn’t going to develop , instead of work for the best coach in the game for more money , knowing you can probably go back and coach at Miami at some point later in your career ? (This is coming off of being fired from a sh1tty FIU program)

Despite yalls bitter feelings, Mario stands a chance of being a coach here again some day and there’s nothing any of yal can do about it . Him choosing Saban over Golden didn’t change that . Get over it

Fun Thought Experiment:
Imagine what The U would look like if the "Message Board of Trustees" was running the program.

Here's what I'd have done. If I'm a Cane I'm a Cane. I'd have told Sabag to fck his face after Folden took me off the scrap heap and found a spot for me on the UM staff for about $400K per year.

He's a traitor and a scumbag lout. Paint him any way you'd like.

Yup. Im a dummy. He shouldve simply stayed unemployed. Crazy how people pick and choose what they should or shouldnt get butthurt over on here regardless of the similarities between the situations. Its a moot point to me.

I like Mario, but I didn't feel like now was the right time to give him the keys. One day maybe, but until then, best of luck.

I still laugh at the butthurt by people around here about him ditching Al for Saban. It is what any sensible coach would've done and if you doubt that, I question your sanity.

Ive tried to tell people around here how wrong they are on him & nothing he did was wrong. He made a business decision that was a no brainer. Working for alfraud was suicide to most careers. He also left for basically double the salary & to this day he doesnt negatively recruit against us. He will be our next coach. Thats something you can put on whatever you love. Only reason he wasnt this time is the bot decided he needed more experience. Dimare aint going nowhere & he makes basically all relevant calls on bot. Mario is his boy. When the time comes **** be a great hire.

The power of the Tomato strikes again @ the U.

I’m probably in the minority here but I think he’s gonna do well at Oregon and he’ll come back years from now to keep Miami among the elite.

Here's where you're off base, friend. Cristobal knew Folden before Folden hired him. He knew and previously worked with Doritos. It's not like he was walking in blind with no idea what those guys were all about.

If he thought they were clowns that he'd dump the minute he got another offer, then he should have turned the job down. Simple. Don't take a job at your supposedly beloved alma mater and then split 4 minutes later as soon as you get another offer. That's scumbag **** no matter how you slice it.

Maybe I'm too loyal or too fiercely protective of my alma mater. But this is very cut and dry to me.

well the "dummies" on here were right. So was Cristobal. You don't stay on with Golden (especially when the title was tight end's coach) when you're ultimate goal is to be a head coach and you'll have an expanded role on a national championship winning team instead. Anyone who says otherwise is dumb.

I'm sure if he could do it all again he would change everything and give up the Oregon HC job just to ease JimmyJohnson and Chise's minds by getting fired with the rest of the staff here in miami

Mario choked Pete Garcia hence why he pretty much lost his job. Would have been hilarious if he would have done that to Paul Williams who was a total tool.

thats the part that always made me laugh (He worked with them before)...oh he saw how garbage of a coach golden was and bounced.(i guessed it eased their minds). But in reality Mario did what all the s.fla turncoats did...used um as a placeholder..and went to the bigger offer in his mind. He's the same as Josh Jobe to me.

He went to bama to be a recruiting mercenary as he isntwasnt some top of the line ol coach. And his current job he only has because willie Urkel left for fsu..other than that he would still be bouncing round as a recruiting mercenary or getting overlooked for jobs at ucf, usf type schools. He likely flops at oregon as well

Solid comparison. but I actually think Jobe is much g.ayer. He thinks its funny that he's trashin us. I've never heard anything anti-Miami from/about Cristobal.

Hey, he (Al) fooled people much smarter than you and landed the job. You're Mario and unemployed, your alma mater comes calling, you answer that call.

Now he's obviously a decent coach as his resume would suggest. Decent head coach, to be determined. Saban is wise and doesn't hire dummies. He would've been **** canned if he wasn't doing his job lickety split. He then lands the Oregon job, again hired by some smart people.

That brings us back to his short stay here. Alma mater, more money than he was making unemployed. I could tell Al was a fraud from day one, I imagine he saw that rather quickly being involved first hand on a daily basis.

Saban come calling, offering far more than we were, it's a no brainer. Yet here we are with little es like you thinking he should've stayed. Get the **** out of here with that nonsense. Dude made the smartest decision he could and yes, there's a lot of butthurt in this thread.

To those saying he knew Al and Dorito, so what?

Unemployed is unemployed. We see athletes who make far more money than coaches end up bankrupt all the time. Perhaps Mario is very good with his money, but maybe he's not. I would guess he's like most American's, living far above their means should a tragedy happen.

He has a family and kids. He's tasked with supporting whatever lifestyle they're accustomed to. Coaching is about who you know and sometimes you run out of options on who you know who will hire you. Want an example, take a look at a good many of our past assitants, etc. Where are they now?

So yes, you take the money, even if you know there's trouble around the corner. Any wise businessman will tell you to take the money while it's there as nothing is a given tomorrow.

Enter Saban, even more money. His assistants have been flying off his shelf at an alarming rate to bigger and better jobs. There is no better place to be an assistant. Again, morr money and he's a traitor for it with ties to a wide ranging coaching tree?

There's loyalty and dumb. It's easy to see Mario isn't dumb, but apparently a good many here are and loyal to a fault which obscures their ability to make sound decisions.
