Story about Mario Cristobal

I don't blame Mario one bit for leaving

Would you rather stay with golden and be fired or win with Satan and build your resume.

Now he's the HC of one of the top jobs in the country

I don't think he is a good head coach or a coach you put a lot of responsibility on. But, I feel he's useful. Whatever that means.

...but he can recruit.

...he's also got a list of OL under him that have gone on to the league, even though I don't think he's a particularly good OL coach.

I like Mario, but I didn't feel like now was the right time to give him the keys. One day maybe, but until then, best of luck.

I still laugh at the butthurt by people around here about him ditching Al for Saban. It is what any sensible coach would've done and if you doubt that, I question your sanity.

Ive tried to tell people around here how wrong they are on him & nothing he did was wrong. He made a business decision that was a no brainer. Working for alfraud was suicide to most careers. He also left for basically double the salary & to this day he doesnt negatively recruit against us. He will be our next coach. Thats something you can put on whatever you love. Only reason he wasnt this time is the bot decided he needed more experience. Dimare aint going nowhere & he makes basically all relevant calls on bot. Mario is his boy. When the time comes **** be a great hire.

I agree. His decision worked and is the Head Coach at Oregon. Had he stayed under Folden then he would be an assistant somewhere else. I hope he has success at Oregon.

He took the easy answer rather than the right answer. I'd rather have seen him stay here and help his alma mater nail down the elite recruits we were supposed to be getting regardless of the head coach. F Mario.

I seriously doubt Mario will ever be the HC here. Richt will be here as long as he wants to be here imo and that could be for 10 years. Mario would have to prove he can win. Which up this point in time. He has no resume as a HC that would back that up.

Even if he does prove he can win. By the time Richt steps away. If Mario has done anything worth speaking about at Oregon. He will be making killer bank at Oregon or some other program that loves blowing large amounts of money on a winning HC will snatch him up.

The only way he is ever HC here when Richt leaves and he never amounts to anything. Is this program has reverted back to not caring.

How many times are we going to have to hear about Beanerdict Arnold threatening other coaches? You guys get all lathered up over that dumb fake ****. Fck that scumbag.

Here's my Beanerdict story: He got mad at me once and choked my chicken.

They don't want us to forget The Incredible Mario. Hallways clear when he goes green.

Not the right answer according to who ? You, a random fan who feels every former Cane player owes him something because he’s a fan of Miami ? Mario had a choice to further his career and coach under one of the best (for more money) or spend a few years getting elite recruits to commit to Golden , only for Golden to ruin their careers ? Yea you sound crazy but I guess it’s easy for you to say that when it’s not your career .

Sound like a bunch of fruits. They love romanticizing that traitor loser.

After making this smart decision, as you say, to go work for the great Nick Saban, his next employer was one William Taggart.. He ended up taking an assistant position all the way across the country at Oregon. He would be in no different position now than had he stayed and done the job he signed on to do at his alma mater. Talent is talent. Working for Alf didn't seem to hold back Coley's career from getting on at another marquee power 5 program. And before you spew that nonsense that he isn't the offense of coordinator and merely a WR coach, that has nothing to do with working for Alf. His decision to throw a halfback option pass in the snow is why he got that demotion. Any other BS narratives you want to address?

I hate this defense of Mario’s actions. If Mario already knew that Golden was terrible and bad for his career then why did he take the job in the first place? You can try to rationalize it all you wat but at the end of the day Mario ****ed on his alma mater. **** him.

See, this right here. I would understand if he'd passed on the job not wanting to be involved with al, but he took the job. Then, 13 minutes later, he bailed for a "better" opportunity (I use quotes because it's debatable if getting reamed by saban every day is worth it). He didn't leave because he knew al sucked, he left because he has no more respect for Miami than any other job.

And he’s now the HEAD COACH at Oregon . After being fired from FIU not too long ago. You say his career trajectory would be the same had he stayed with Golden, that’s an ASSUMPTION and not a good one. Compare Mario who left to a coach that stayed under Golden . Name one other coach that was an assistant under Golden at Miami that is now a head coach. I’ll wait .

Yep. Dummies defending Beanerdict's treason by pointing out that it was career suicide to work for Folden. He never should have taken the job if that was the case.
