Obviously the offense will be lacking elite QB skills but it could be a good one two punch to salvage the season or even sneak us a win or two if Cam's hypothetical injury is a week by week basis.

Frédérique is the guy that we never seemed to land in the past…underrated SoFla kid that punches above his “recruiting rankings” weight class. Far too many times were we the team that wind up with 4* kids that punched below their weight class. Hence us being labeled the poster child of Overrated (always there in the Top 15ish for recruiting rankings but rarely if ever there in the top 15-20 poll at seasons end).

Was watching the OSU-UGA semifinal game from 2 years ago and at times I check out the rankings guys had coming out of HS. IMO the play that changed the entire game was when the DB (legally) knocked Harrison Jr out of the game - I just knew this kid was a 5* because he was literally shot out of a cannon and bazooka blasted Harrison Jr at the back of the end zone. Turns out that the kid was a 3* DB from somewhere in Georgia - Bullard was his name I believe. Ended up as a 2nd round draft pick or somewhere in that range iirc

Point I’m making is these (Frédérique/Bullard) are the type of evals we need to continue landing because your entire class gets a major shot in the arm when you nail on kids like these. Kids that are taking high 4*/5* players jobs (in Bullards case).

Nailing on a 3* eval who plays like a Top 100 HS kid can literally transform your team. At first of hearing OJ getting busy on Greentree, I figured he’d flash here or there and make a play….but this kid has gotten praise from Mario/Guidry, his teammates, and now he’s doing it on a consistent level during scrimmages.

I’m officially on the OJ hype train!

We need desperately for one of the freshman corners to be a dog. It helps depth and allows more flexibility at safety.

This is a very underrated post. Mostly what you are referring to is the essence of the culture Mario has worked so hard to instill. Having a guy like X who is the embodiment of this philosophy doesn't hurt either. I think in the end it going to be the type of mentality and work ethic(culture) that Mario has instilled that will be the reason we see players beginning to develop again and the reason for the rebirth of a self policing player led culture. What Mario began to instill here from day 1 will literally be the invisible hand that pushes this program back up among the elite.
 
Elite guys generally flash early.
If a guy is a Sophomore and hasn't flashed, he ain't ever gonna flash.
That's just my opinion.

In some cases it takes a year (or two) for a kid to contribute because he needs to (1) gain size or (2) polish his technique...but the elite traits can be seen very early. These coaches know who the NFL guys are within the first few months (estimate).

You see the traits. You see the twitch, the speed, the bend, the attitude, the physicality, etc.
We've got young guys like that on the roster right now. People in the building are already saying that OJ is an NFL guy. Same thing with kids like Pruitt and our young DT's.

Once you've been coaching long enough, and you've been around "next level" guys, YOU KNOW what it looks like.
We do the same thing in high school. LOL
We can tell when an underclassmen is gonna be a D1 kid.
There are many factors that eventually determine what level of D1 he'll be (Akron or Alabama) but the "next level" traits show early.

I trust that THIS staff has been around enough elite guys to know what they look like.
I never trusted Manny's evaluations because where the **** has he (or his staff) been? Even Golden and D'No showed better evaluation skills if we're being honest.

That dude sounds incredibly dumb. A Miami Hurricane insider saying a SFE player is doing good (while making zero mention of SFE/RAW) is a loser because he typically promotes/reps another 7v7 team? Do these guys actually think their 7v7 programs are important at all? lol. Nobody gives a **** if they were on Raw or SFE once they get to college.

They are what they are. Depth guys/bad evals.

Nailed it. Years ago, when Palmetto came up to play Vero, all the "expert" parents in the stands kept screaming Leonard Taylor was offside. My response was..."he's not offside, that's what elite talent looks like" The more they watched him, they agreed and quit complaining.

Side note: when y'all came up here and played Vero, I told them they better tackle Rooster cause he'll run you over. Sure as ****, he trucked the Vero safety in the open field and kept on running.

That playoff game was one of the best experiences I've had as a coach in 17 years. What a great atmosphere and a well coached program.
(we were just possessed that night)

As a Ft. Pierce Westwood grad, I couldn't care less about Vero Beach football, though the atmosphere is pretty good. However, my daughter cheered there for 4yrs so I was stuck going to the games. The only good thing about it was...I was able to see some good talent play on that field. I remember Borregales drilling 60yd FG's in warm-ups. VB is good during the regular season, but they usually **** the bed during the playoffs. I'm glad y'all won. That free'd up my Friday nights the rest of the season.

nerves have a lot to do with the above, and just not being truly ready at the time he was thrown in there. I'm sure those games were moving very fast for him, but you'll see a more commanding presence and deliberateness in his movements as he gets stronger and the game slows down for him.

What I noticed was how he maintained composure against our toughest opponents and under difficult circumstances, putting clutch 3rd down passes in tight windows to keep us in each game. Emory let his nuts hang when we needed him most and gave us a chance to win; kid is fearless.
