Stephen Morris

He didn't look any worse than he has the last three years (save for a couple quarters during the GT and NCSU games). The Mummy. Overthrows long passes that would be TDs, fires short passes so hard and off target, bouncing off defenders until it looks like the opponents stopped playing football to throw an impromptu Kadima game. Runs too late, too slow, and fumbles if anyone gets within a yard of him. And best of all, on third down, continually locks in on the one reciever that cannot possibly make first down yardage. 3rd and 9, you can bet Morris is throwing a six yard out.

Very inconsistent. Bottom line is that we can't win unless he plays well.

I wish he has been inconsistent. Three TDs in the last three games and dishing out turnovers like they were Obamaphones is consistantly bad. :(

He's an average QB that needed time to develop (man did he get ****ed having to burn his 'shirt in the VA game), and is still VERY raw. He'll get some of that coached out of him, but his ceiling isn't high. Its on him now.

He's had plenty of time to develop. He's a junior who got a pretty good amount of PT as a true freshman. He is what he is.

I think he'd look a lot better if he had a running game and wasn't asked to pass the ball 43 times a game.

Obviously struggled as the competition has gotten better, but they aren't running the extremely up-tempo offense (no huddle all the time, run up to the line of scrimmage after big plays, snap the ball very early in play clock, etc) they were for the first 3rd of the season when he was posting much better numbers, either.

Let's see how he plays the rest of the way.

This. I'm on record saying he'll be the highest drafted QB we've had in twenty years. Time wil tell whether I was right or wrong.

But what we care about is Miami, not the NFL. This year has been inconsistent and trending down.

He can do something in the ACC this program has never done. Or he could fade down the stretch like all of his predecessors have. These next four games will be very telling.

He's essentially a one trick pony. He has a strong arm and can heave the ball downfield with relative ease. Unfortunately that is a low percentage play (albeit with high reward if he hits an open receiver). Otherwise he has horrible accuracy on most of his passes and absolutely no touch on short passes or fades. Even worse, he frequently stares down receivers and seems to struggle to find the open receiver under any semblance of pressure when he's not trying to force the ball to the primary target.

Bruh, every game has been "very telling" since the Georgia Tech game according to you. lol

What more does Stephen Morris need to tell you?

This is much more true than I'd like it to be.
What kills me is he'll often get himself into more pressure instead of stepping up in the pocket. Is till shake my head at him not checking out of the fade on 3rd & 2 and looking at James.

The thing I've noticed about CFB is that you don't need Tom Brady back there to wins games. Alabama has the perfect recipe, stellar defense, a QB that manages but doesn't lose the game for you and a above avg. RB.

This I agreed with. You can win games and even championships without a "great" quarterback, as long as you have the a strong team. However, you can't win with an average team unless you have a great quarterback.

The game right after that Georgia Tech game, he threw for more yards than anyone in ACC history. So yeah, that told me something. The North Carolina game told me something different.

Let's see if he can finish or if he's like every other QB we've had the past ten years.

I don't get how being the highest drafted QB during the past twenty years is a benchmark for success.

Not knowing the down and distance (ever) is IMO criminal. He throws short on 3rd down five or six times a game.

Congrats on breaking RUSTY LARUE's record lol.

and...why you gotta hate on Brock Berlin? You will never hear me hate on a QB that went 5-0 versus UF and FSU.

But seriously, I have no idea what these games keep telling you that your boy Larry Luv from Up Above didn't tell you already.

As you alluded to yourself, I'm not sure how being the highest drafted QB makes you "right or wrong" on anything relevant to what he gives us. He has a **** cannon on his shoulder. He's an athlete. His feet are quicker than Kyle Wright's and he's less shell-shocked by pressure. He has a good amount of raw tools. The NFL might see those things and hope to mold a 6th rounder into something. Who knows.

You're somewhat shifting the target by saying "he could do something in the ACC that no other QB has ever done." We've been unbelievably ****** in the ACC. It's not a very high bar. I'm concerned about winning football games that matter. I'm concerned about having a QB who can beat above average defenses.

I only see VTech, sorta, that really "shows" us anything down the stretch. If we get to the ACC Championship game, he'll have another chance to show himself by making the kind of decisions and throws that need to be made in pressure situations and against a formidable opponent. Up to now, he has not done it consistently enough or, some would argue, done it at all.

My stance is he'll have all of next year to show us if he can become the QB some of you think he could be. Until then, I'm hoping for any kind of consistency on the three aspects we've discussed before: (1) anticipation, (2) touch and (3) making throws in the pocket. Since he was injured, I'll give him a pass of sorts on checking down so much against FSU. What scared me was the couple of "fade" throws he nearly threw into the stands. That's "feel."
