Stephen Morris As A Recruit

If I remember correctly the only BCS offers Morris had, besides us, when he committed were Purdue and Virginia

I don't think Morris ever had a Michigan offer, but if I recall, he did win some QB award at their camp. Something about him throwing the ball 70+ yards in the air.

His recruitment was slow in the beginning. He went up to Michigan for a camp and BLEW IT UP. He was fastest man and MVP as a QB. Michigan offered on the spot. Whipple had been watching him for a long time. Randy finally gave in a we offered. I saw him at Canesfest and he told he he waited forever for the offer. There was a safty, JABARI GORMAN, that chose UF after being a strong Cane lean and we all knew about SM HOWEVER he wasn't #1 on UM's list. He always wanted to be here.

I think he was handpicked by Whipple.

On a more serious note, none of the recruiting sites show a Michigan offer.

Brennan has since transferred to Towson. Hard to tell if it's all skill or the fact that Wisconsin goes out and grabs a big time QB Transfer every year.

From what I have seen, Morris has not developed beyond a mid-level D1 recruit (i.e. UCONN, UVA, Purdue) thus far. I don't believe he is even in the All-ACC discussion, much less All-American. If you disagree, pls explain. Thanks.

I honestly think Morris will surprise a bunch of folk. Like I said, he will have a better year this year than Jacory did last year.

We struck out on all the other QB's we went after so Morris was offered late as a backup plan.

If I recall I think Morris was hand-picked AND plucked by Whipple.

Also, if Morris was recruited by, and played for, FSU he'd been a 4 star QB and by now would be being projected to win the heisman.
And when FSU was in this exact situation 2 years ago they were predicted to finish like 10-2 by most pundits. Makes sense to me.

lulz

Was gonna say just this.

This is pretty homerish, but right now, I'll take Morris over EJM.

Joe Brennan of New Jersey was the top target that year. He chose Wisconsin then we moved on to Morris.

lol yes I remember that. Brennan is like 4th on the depth chart at Wisconsin....looks like we dodged one.

Brennan is transferring. He couldn't even beat out a walk-on

dang...youtube highlights can be really deceptive sometimes. Thought he was going to be a real player.

This is exactly how I remember the situation a few years ago.

Not to say Morris can't/won't be a good college player but the reality is/was that we struck out on all of our top guys that season and settled on Morris.

Hopefully he has what it takes to lead this team to victory this year and next.

Morris was the last guy on the queue, essentially after Miami missed on the Belldozer, Andrew Hendrix, Joe Brennan, Dallas Lloyd and a few other top guys.

They passed on Jeff Godfrey and during some camps, names that showed up were Morris, Michael Strauss, Ed Sullivan, Jake Medlock, and some other low level QBs. Whipple IIRC, went in on Morris.

For Morris, IIRC, it was either Miami or Virginia...Morris chose Miami and Virginia ultimately offered and got a commitment from Strauss...he now plays at Richmond. Brennan is going to transfer. Lloyd is fourth on the Stanford depth chart. Hendrix is alright, but not yet a starter for ND. Belldozer isn't a starter, but a vital cog in Oklahoma's offense.
