Stephen Morris As A Recruit

He was offered by mid-level D1 schools (Purdue, UCF, UCONN, UVA) but Pace is a relatively smaller school. My only thought is that they didn't play enough big competition? I don't know, but he was highly received/rated in south florida, just not nationally.

So if he does good this year do we give rep to shammin for finding a gem or to golden and fisch for finally developing a QB ?

edit/ rep to whipple

A little of both? No way to know what he would've produced should Shannon have still been in charge, nor any way to know if it was Golden/Fisch that developed his talent.

I will happily accept a Shannon player that produces, all I want is Morris to destroy people with his arm this year.

Joe Brennan of New Jersey was the top target that year. He chose Wisconsin then we moved on to Morris.

I don't think his numbers were all that spectacular his senior year at Pace. I remember thinking his stats were similar to Sam Bradford's last year in HS and hoping he'd be half the QB Bradford turned out to be.

I remember reading a story about Morris' recruitment. Whipple was the one who hand picked him and didn't offer until late in the process such that copy cat schools wouldn't check him out as well. Whipple really believed Morris was a diamond in the rough at Pace.

Shannon did not who how recruit QB's.
Thank Whipple for discovering Morris or we'd be majorly effed right now.

Randy didn't want to extend scholarship to Morris. He was hand picked by Whipple.

I remember being surprised by Morris's arm strength when he played against UVA as a freshman, because his high school highlights were basically a bunch of dump-offs and tunnel screens.

It didn't seem like he threw the ball downfield much.

lol yes I remember that. Brennan is like 4th on the depth chart at Wisconsin....looks like we dodged one.
