I'm all for replacing our safeties IF (BIIIIG IF) the replacement(s) will be better. I haven't seen Zaquan in practice. I don't know if he knows wtf he's supposed to do in all the different situations. In time do I think he will be the guy? Yes. Is it right now? Ehhh, I'm not sure. Odds are high that a player with multiple seasons under his belt (Meesh and Harris) know the system, the calls, the switches, etc far more than Zaquan at this point. Again, I don't KNOW because I'm not on the staff nor at practices. If Zaquan DOES know those things, then it's a different story.

I'll never understand the knee-jerk reaction of some fans who always think the solution is to play the backup. They're backups for a reason.

If he’s not starting, I am guessing it’s because he’s worse than the current starters. I don’t think Cristobal has any loyalty to Meesh Powell that would prevent him from playing someone better at that position.

He’s not worse than the others. Kid has been playing since game one. But sometimes you let guys earn confidence. The last line of defense isn’t just coverage ability. He has to communicate calls. I believe we will see more of him! He definitely could be starting soon.

Would love to see Patterson pull snaps from #7 and also let Powell get a breather on occasion to see how Markeith Williams handles that spot. Particularly against more pass oriented teams where he wont get trucked in a condensed formation run game.

Guidry has said in interviews he doesn't generally rotate a lot outside of DL and he is directly in charge of the safeties. I think its just how he rolls but I am hoping that philosophy changes some going forward.

Agreed. It's the underlying assumptions that A) the backup is better and B) the internet dude knows more than the coaches.

Maybe Poff should replace Cam Ward in the first halves moving forward to eliminate the mistakes? Am I doing it right?
