Staff may just go all in with Emory now…

Aren't there VR tools now that can give any QB quasi "1st team reps" against the toughest D scenarios?

@Lance Roffers

Granted sims are not real life, but should give some indication on where each QB is at.
You know coaches are going to be partial to players they recruit. I don't begrudge them that at all.

But after what we saw from Emory (which was simply not D1 level play), there is no way I'm going into year four with even a chance that I'm relying on Judd Anderson to ever play here. If he takes it because of his play, I can handle that.

With portal free agency allowing any team to go get anything they want at any time by simply paying money, I cannot imagine thinking I'm developing three star QB's as my future. You let someone else do that and then buy the ones that pop.

I'm frankly scared that Miami coaches aren't being honest with themselves (or me) after watching Emory play. This QB room, as it currently stands, is what place in the ACC? Who would you have behind it?

You're losing the best player in football. Three RB's. All your WR's that played. Need a new DC. Half a new defense.

And you're going to go into next season with even a chance that you have to rely on Emory or Judd?

Whew. Couldn't be me.

Excellent points.

However...isn't there a VR system that is very advanced that gives strong simulation on a given QBs keys?

I would think a program like Miami would have access to this kit...

Yes/no?

How is Emory this bad and staff doesn't know? Goodness huge fail.

I've been pounding the VR drum for years and gotten deaf ears.

To my knowledge, they aren't relying on this to help develop their QB's at this time.

If it were me, my QB's would all be getting thousands of reps with VR. I'd have more than one available so that my guys are always having chances and I'd track their usage with profile log-ins.

You can set these up to mirror defenses that you load and have them prep and grow on anything they desire.

We are spending tens of millions on recruiting, but I would lop off a milly and spend it on tech to develop these guys.

I know there are people around the program pushing for more data, tech, analytics usage in the program. Not sure what has or will come from that yet.

We’ve had a new VR machine it’s just Mario and Feld can’t figure out how to access it….

Coley was ahead of his time using Google glasses in practice over 10 years ago.

I would say there's zero percent chance any QB on the roster today will be the starter in 2025.

I mean at this point, milroe?

I imagine tomorrow (5th day since our bowl game) will be a big day on the transfer portal front for our players - I don't hope emory goes, but would at least signal we've had the conversation we're looking

or is it 5 business days after a bowl game? thought it was just 5 flat days

Bumping an old thread, but saw this thread on twitter and remembered this conversation. Maybe Daniels’ play this year gets it more in the mainstream.

I actually quote tweeted this as well. Coaches are slow to embrace change or new things.

But not utilizing it is borderline incompetence. It would be like a baseball program not utilizing pitching data and pitching machines to hit off. You'd be a dinosaur and purposefully putting yourself behind.

Do we fans never learn? Marino brought us Dan Marino passing records. Never a Championship. Every year he played for the Dolphins the defense sucked worse and worse. Cam brought us Cam Ward records and each game our defense was worse and worse until the end. No Natty. I guess I just think that balance on a team matters. The 1972 Dolphins were the perfect team right? They didn't have the stud QB, but they had three stud RBs in Morris, Czonka and Kiick. They had superior guys on the O line like we have now. They had a stud defense who could stop the run. They had Warfield to stretch the defense. They had Mandich and I think Briscoe to be possession guys. Michigan won a Natty using this formula. Just opening this for debate but exactly how from that are we given the current roster of the team? We need the run stoppers but I think this roster could be better if we added the talent on key defensive positions and didn't try to be an offense that killed the defense on time of possessions. As usual I will wait for all the normal face palms I get from the posts.
Relax. To think even 50% of Miami fans even pull for our basketball team, much less the Dolphins, is a pie in the sky fackin thing.

Half my buddies who didn’t even go to the U back the day couldn’t believe I wasn’t a Dookie in basketball, a Yankee in baseball and a 49er or Patriot in football.

It’s about being ok with dying before **** gets right again, but never jumping off the bandwagon missing 3 wheels. Story of my fackin life

In a thread full of some of the worst takes in CIS recent history, the guy blaming Dan Marino and Cam Ward for their team’s inability to win the championship might take the cake. His top secret plan for bringing home championship gold is to purposely play worse at quarterback. Because we know when the offense sucks ***, the defense will magically get better. Instead of winning games 42-35 every week, we could just lose 35-0.

More on topic, I don’t think the staff EVER considered Emory to take the starting position. They pumped a bunch of sunshine about his practice performance because coaches normally don’t throw players under the bus, especially good soldiers like Williams. But they were immediately contacting quarterbacks as soon as they entered the portal and likely even before.

Bumping an old thread about a quarterback that doesn’t belong on our team makes no sense at all! Mods lock this thread up because it’s a waste of space and breath on a quarterback that belongs in the group of five or FCS.
