Stacy Coley is a beast thread

If you are good enough to leave after three years, you can contribute as a freshman, and you shouldn't be red shirted. We aren't Alabama guys, yet anyway. We can't just red-shirt talent that can go to the NFL after three seasons.

If you have watched college football for a long time you know that statement is not true. Like I said I'm not saying Coley is going to redshirt or just because he says the next 3-4 years he'll be at Miami literally means he'll be leaving after 3 years.

All of the following players redshirted, left after 3 years and were picked in the 1st round(except bold which were 2nd round):

Aldon Smith
Justin Blackmon
Michael Crabtree
Ryan Williams(VT)
Michael Brockers (LSU DT)
Matt Kalil
Andrew Luck
Dontari Poe
Riley Reiff
Giovani Bernard
Zach Ertz
Barkevious Mingo
Earl Thomas

All these players did not come from top 5 schools. If a player has the physical talent but still needs the mental or additional strength and additional learning there is nothing wrong with redshirting.

Slow down the hype train.

I agree that Coley is supremely talented and probably the most naturally gifted athlete in the WR core the day he steps on campus, but it's gonna take more than that to get on the field.

Lockhart was the most talented of all the receivers the day HE stepped on campus and it didn't pan out that way.

Oh really

At this point whoever thinks Coley is going to start this year at receiver is crazy.

my post in this thread were way off lol..... i'm glad he proved me wrong, it says more about how great of a talent he is b/c this receiving group is loaded.

I thought he was good but i didnt know he was going to be THIS **** GOOD... BEAST!

As an outsider, who just watches and reads the camp reports, it certainly looks like Coley will be contributing this year. He just seems to be getting too many reps and making too many plays. Sometimes, things like this are just that obvious

And with the game being as wide open now, where 3 and 4 WR sets are so prevalent, Coley can absolutely play early and often( and without the pressure of being a go-to guy.

But every situation is different, I still recall Andre Johnson not being a factor till his 3 year in the program. Lance Legget was a regular rotation guy midway through his true freshman year. Lot of variables determine who plays quickly.

As we look back on signing day, while it was disappointing, Im just thankful we got this guy

Play the best if he is the best he will see plenty of action, I actually think he might not see as much action vs FAU to keep UF from having much to see from him.

What did I say that was wrong?

You cannot stop this hype train. Just looking for a reason to bump my own thread. Sorry it came at your expense.

Andre Johnson was a factor in year 2. Year 1 he was behind moss, Wayne, jones and king or whatever. With that being said, if coley is good enough to contribute you have to trust that the coaches will utilize him.

He was still behind Moss and Wayne in year 2. He didn't get real PT until his RS sophomore year.

Don't none of yall say you said it first about Coley's skills. Cameron Underwood will go HAM on you for hours about it on twitter... :crownpour:

The most impressive thing about Coley, to me has been his been his mental maturity. We all knew he had amazing physical talent, but the knock on him was mental/maturity issues. He's obviously putting in the work off the field and in the weight room to already be right in the middle of the rotation. Also, as Golden mentioned on Joe Rose this morning, he was able to bounce back after that bad opening game against FAU to look pretty **** good the last few weeks. Good to see he has his mind right, as the kid might be the most gifted athlete on the team.
