St. Thomas Recruiting Update

So what happened with 18 class? I know the bag game is real and we can’t compete but we have other things working for us and need to take advantage of them and thus far Richt and crew have done great job there. This cycle isn’t over yet, let’s see how we finish. We will always lose some kids that are elite, that happened even when we were on top. We just have to land most of them. Last cycle we got almost everyone we wanted.

Uh, in 18’ we lost several players to bags.....

The problem with some of these misses are the bags being dropped. Not sure if TS falls into said category. We could really benefit from UGA coming back to earth this season.
I agree its the promises of houses more than bags IMO........I dont think UGA will have that drop it feels like they are here to stay to challenge Bamas reign. It looks like they will be that team to carry the mantle in my opinion. I know thats not the popular thing on here and I wish it were us but they look like that squad off the field in recruiting strategy and on field performance. TS would be a Cane and a list of others if our game on the trail was stronger and I think that has crippled us into being dominant, can we be good **** yeah but to be dominant we have to get those kids.

I hate to admit it, but I think you are 100% right. I am honestly rooting for Bama to continue beating UGA. It will look really really bad if Kirby keeps UGA at that level. We will never be able to beat them in recruiting unless the kid really wants to stay home.

We have to play the game plain and simple, this is todays college football and we have to do what we have to do. If u want to win big in CFB u have to get your hands dirty.

Facts. No clean team has won the NC in the CFP era. You need to do it correctly though. Bama cheats they win 4 nattys in 8 years. We cheat and we couldn't even win 10 games.

Different era, those guys had to sendout vhs highlight tapes. Now you could stream your highlights on twitter. Point is it was easier to hide undervalued talent. That is not the case now look at the last 10 ship winners very high rated classes. Btw ive seen TS play a couple times he is the best DB in the country n he's from dade, he's a must get.

Silly comment. Bama had a walk on starting couple years ago. Some guys just get better later and certain coaches can see it.

I love comments like this, it shows to some extent what is wrong with society as a whole. So you take one exception to the rule and you make it your main argument. So im silly because Alabama had one walk on start at safety during a championship run. I suppose he was surrounded by walk ons too and also backed up by walk ons as well. The truth is he was a walk on that was surrounded by 5* DBs and LBs, that also had 5* linemen rushing the passer. Your right lets forget my silly comment don't recruit Battle or Stevenson, lets just go out and find a walk on that is just as good as those elite level athletes. Oh and I also forgot hopefully his family is well off too because if not it will be really difficult to convince someone to pay that private school tuition when they could go to a state school. Im also sure Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Landon Collins, Minkah Fitzpatrick were all walk ons too. How silly is the comment now?

My point is you being in players regardless based on your evals. Not names and stars like you seem to be going by. Can you look at two 5 star wr's and take one over the other or will you just have the attitude that you win either way?

Again, you're comment was silly. Easy to make simple comments like that when you have no clue about evaluating players.

You are the one with the silly comment. 92% of 5 stars end up making an NFL roster. Less then 1% of 2 stars end up on NFL rosters. Yes once in a while 2 stars and walkons end up being great, but you are much better off loading up with 4 and 5 stars like Bama does. No team has won a natty in the playoff era that wasn't loaded with 4 and 5 stars.

Is that true? Link?

I will try to find the article tonight after work. It was basically a breakdown from 2004-2014 draft classes and what percentage of 2, 3, 4, and 5 stars end up in the NFL. Basically in 2004 it was only like 50% of 5 stars ended up making it to the NFL and it slowly increased each year. The past few years it was over 90%. I did a quick search and the closest thing I found now is some guy on Reddit compiled the drafted players from the 2010-2014 draft classes. 70% where drafted from 2010-2014, which sounds about right if the other 20% sign as UFAs. This is also for 2010-2014 so the average would be a bit higher for 2012-2014.
