Spring Transfer Portal

If Denis is still injured or hitting the portal, I'd honestly rather run with Tripp. Or move Big Baby over assuming he's not transferring out. Or bring Randy Shannon's son out of retirement. ... Optics of giving a scholarship to coach's son are just all wrong.
Good points

But nephew

This Is actually the best time for this. After spring they know the pecking order
The hard part will be convincing them to come be a backup here as well. I would sell them that this is likely TVD last season and the QB1 job for 2024 is wide open.

Those Oregon OL we took have really struggled. Still don't get why Mario took them? I guess he thought we needed depth.

But anyways, I’d still take him as a backup center. We should see attrition at that position in the coming weeks.
I would be shocked if he's a take on a scholarship, you don't take Georgia State depth pieces at OL and give them scholarships to play at Miami. If Cristobal does come to Miami it will likely be as a walk on, I'm sure his family can pay his way.

I was talking more UF lol. You can come start at UF with a partial AC tear, Mertz is terrible. I doubt Mario lands anybody unless it’s a a underclassmen that likes our roster and chances next year.

Oh gotcha, I was hoping we were going to go after a Walker Howard, Jeff Simms or Nick evers but we never did. I would imagine more of those types of QBs will be available after spring.

Regardless

A depth guy at GSU who is listed at 6’0 274 (so he probably isn’t even 6’) has no business getting a scholarship here. We have a million “center types” on this roster already who are bigger than this kid. You took 2 transfers last off season from Oregon that are squatty types that you need to teach to play center + Rodriguez. We need to get AWAY from these types, not add more.

If he is coming as a walk on then hey sure, but no scholarship. Absolutely tf not.
Im in agreement with this.

Have Sogapolu at the psot or Big Baby....got**** you cant recruit size and then keep adding interior small guys pidgeonholed as centers.

One of the 3 at Ole Miss will definitely hit the portal. No chance Howard, Sanders or Dart sit third fiddle.

Bro said, if I have to play trash; rather the trash I know that the trash I dont
Lol, they were definitely strange moves. I think the only guys you need to take in the portal are proven starters or highly recruited players with 3+ years of eligibility left. I'll never be a fan of taking depth pieces.

If he gets a scholarship it's nepotism at its finest.

Shows how bad it really was last year, where Denis and Sagapolu were the best he could find on short notice. He obviously knew their "short"comings.
