Any other 3-4 teams in the country fielding 240 pound OLB's?

Bama and Stanford thats about it.. Christian Jones was 240 at OLB but moved to DE his sr year because FSU had no pass rushers at all..

Jones actually moved to the Jack LB position- DE/LB hybrid. FSU moved from their new 3/4 defense to a 3-3-5 defense after the BC game. They weren't dependent on the 3 down linemen to generate the pass rush because they blitz heavily from other positions- Joyner led them in sacks. FSU was still able to finish #16 in sacks even without a pass rush from the D-line.

Wish we played aggressive similar to them.

You going to play aggressive and rush 5-6 when your cover linebackers are Gaines and Cornelius, and your last line of defense is Highsmith and Rodgers?

I'm holding judgement until I see this defense actually playing 11 vs 11 instead of 8-9 vs 11.

If we don't see serious improvement this year then I will lead the Fire Doritos Brigade, if we DO see marked improvement in sacks, turnovers and yards, then I'm hoping you haters shut the Fuuck up.

Aggressive doesn't = blitz. Thanks for your myopic contribution though.

Gaines should be one of the people blitzing, not covering. And there's no reason that Cornelius shouldn't be able to cover somebody. That's never been his issue. DC's don't worry about the coverage ability of their LB's when they wanna blitz, they worry about the DB's. The LB's are the ones who are blitzing so why would anybody worry about their coverage ability.

Regardless, D'Onofrio's blitz designs are terrible. I think he only has 2 blitzes.

1. Send the Inside Linebackers from 6 yards away
2. Blitz the Safety/Corner off the edge

We're not creative with the way we send pressure. We don't manipulate the protection and/or put linemen in a bind.
