Unless the team has a rash of injuries, Al, staff, and team are going to have an excellent season this coming season. What concerns me is what schools like Texas and Bama will do if they begin to look for a new coach after next season.

It's been rumored that once Mack Brown gracefully departs (which could be next season) Texas will throw a ridiculous amount of money at Saban to coach the Longhorns. Well if Saban stays at Bama, or goes back to the pros there is a huge possibility that Al will be a leading candidate at both schools if both slots open up.

I truly believe Al loves it here and knows how much he can win with South Florida talent ( and I believe he really believes in the mystique of the Miami Hurricanes), but a lot of money talks. Tuscaloosa is a dump, but Austin is not too shabby. Does anyone know how much $$$$ the University/Boosters have in their war chest to throw at Golden when these offers come next year. He'll....if we are in the 10 at mid season we should throw everything at him then.

Don't reply if you start throwing out crap like.....Al hasn't done anything.....we don't know if we will have a good season next year.

We are gonna rock the $$$$ next year.

Golden, his wife, and family love it in Miami.

I don't see him going anywhere. He's said many times he's dug in and I believe him.

even if we have a good season, i don't see golden being a candidate for either bama or texas. if we have a good season, sure, he will be a hot commodity. just don't think either of those schools go for young up and comer like golden. they can go after much bigger names.

i think he loves it here and he recognizes w/in a 50 mile radius of UM lies the most fertile recruiting grounds in the country. but, there is a big difference between 1.5 mil a year vs 3 or 4 mil a year and most would jump at that.
he's not going yet, but, i don't think he's gonna be here 10 years.

If Golden can win 10 games next year then all doubt has been removed, he's the guy, and we need to throw money at him accordingly. I know we can't outbid Texas, but he would be valuable enough to the University that we should be competitive (as Baylor has done with Briles).

What Swagger said. If Al wins 10 next year, we should be able to generate enough revenue to compete with his other offers. If the offense explodes, I could see Fisch getting some looks, which would be a good thing.

we are never gonna compete w/ places like fsu, lsu, texas, bama, auburn, tennessee, etc. we just aren't.

Coker was making like 2 million his last year here. If Golden was winning big, I'm sure he could get close to 3 million.

i just don't think golden winning 10 games next year puts him in the texas/bama category. a few years? sure.
big names? don't know until after every season who gets fired. or, they will and can lure a big name already at a big time bcs school to leave and come there.
golden will be at the top of the young and upcoming lists, but, until he does it a few years year, i don't think bama or texas is coming after someone like him just yet.

weown, sure. and he had a NC under his belt. and by the time golden is getting 2-3 mil from UM, texas will be paying 5. i'm not saying about UM, we just aren't going to be up at the top of salaries. we will be 1-2 mil behind the top schools. and that's a lot of money. and resources and facilities.

Golden made his decision to stay after the smoke cleared from last years NCAA debacle. He was not happy and was close to blowing outta here.

However, Golden is a religious man and feels his calling is here. He said so himself.

Dude is here for the long haul - barring an insane monetary offer that any of us would, no doubt, take for our families sake.

i agree golden is here for awhile. at least it appears that way. could anyone blame him for taking another 1 mil a year guaranteed somewhere else? i couldn't.
i think it might be a mistake, but, i couldn't.
some guys realize they can be successful here. again, w/in a 50 mile radius is the most fertile recruiting ground in the country. keep most at home and you can win.

I would think that Muschump is higher on both of those schools list than Golden is. Don't think Golden has done enough yet to be any big time schools top choice, but I believe it's coming in the near future.

Tally/Artist..

I WANT Al here for the long haul and I genuinely believe, like others have said, Miami is where he wants to be. I was mainly looking for anyone else's input...or what else Miami may offer Al and Co......admissions.....more money for assistants...etc.

I personally believe Al's name will be big as anyone's if we have as good a season as I believe we can.

Schnelly, JJ, and Butch all knew they were happy and should have never left Miami. It's one of THE VERY FEW jobs that despite some drawbacks, has a certain aura/mystique to it. I firmly believe Al sees and understands this.
