Some thoughts after the Cal rewatch

To many points here already:
Run game improved and also run gave diversity improved. Shocking concept.
Lofton from H back or simply in any 12 set with arroyo is intriguing.. disappointing Riley game.
Brown and George are rough. Brown just looks plain bad at times

Reminds me of Ken Dorsey. He is Emory with game day experience. Would be a safe pickup !

Mendoza does nothing that Emory cannot do. I'm fine with Emory.

Can Emory score 38 on our D. There is no evidence for that whatsoever.

I like Emory a lot but we know Mendoza can do what we expect Emory will do.

George has always been inconsistent, it's just who he is. And Brown been a bit disappointing but Horton has looked great. Him & Arroyo have been the 1a/1b for breakout players on the entire team this year.

Basically Cal didn't do squat. They had four plays that they torched us with. Three of those four were defensive busts and the other was just good scheming. You're going to get beat from time to time but the bust plays are inexcusable.

I'm not sure what all of this means but it seems like Cal was extremely lucky to be in this game.

IMO, Cal overperformed and their OC schemed up his Offense really well and took advantage of our defensive shortcomings.

TLDR for me is the defense just has to limit scoring drives to FG's because we are definitely doing enough offensively to blow teams out.

Maybe Guidry alters his scheme some, uses more zone or we just get basic and try not overcomplicate things.

Agree -

He was 11/22 for like 280+ yards. Four of those were 50+yd plays, thus the rest of his completions were like 7/18 and like 80ish yards (just spitballing and not looking it up).

You would think after watching what a true QB looks like they would be able to decipher from mediocrity but old habits die hard. "He from Miami bro!"
