Considering how terribly he’s running the athletic department, I don’t think he gives a **** about anything. Congrats, we replaced Blake James with older Blake James.Im sure that Rad is upset that some anonymous poster on the Caneinsight doesnt like him or his hires.
As an assistant coach (at GW and Miami) Caputo has been to 4 Sweet 16’s, 2 Elite 8’s, and one Final 4.If Rad was coasting he would have hired Caputo
Kirby has made multiple solid hires in basketball. He’s managed to make TTU a destination for basketball, despite Lubbock being a wasteland. Miami is over here half assing it. Miami LUCKED into L and then followed the best tenure in program history by hiring an inexperienced blue blood assistant. When I 1st saw AD Kirby at Miami, I thought, where do I know this guy from. I happened to be in the area and went on a recruiting visit to Ohio with my nephew and my brother. That's where I met him at. I thought, seriously, this is Miami's AD. I have a a friend who played golf for FSU and his brother(his father lives with his brother) has now lived houses down from Kirby since he moved to Lubbock. They have neighborhood parties. I haven't escaped Kirby crap since he left Miami. I am not complaining about Rad.
So much so that Chris Beard left for AustinKirby has made multiple solid hires in basketball. He’s managed to make TTU a destination for basketball, despite Lubbock being a wasteland. This you?So much so that Chris Beard left for Austin
Minnesota hired an alumnus. Please stop
I think you're missing the point of the two commentsThis you?
Nah, I was just ******* around. But I do think using Beard leaving to his alma mater as a rebuttal to the idea Kirby turned Tech into a destination is disingenuous, even if I disagree with the sentiment myself.I think you're missing the point of the two comments
We all are intitled to our own opinions. I would have personally liked a experienced coach. We hired Lucas and I support him. I wasn't happy about JD's hire at all. I care about football way more than any other sport. I had enough when Manny was hired. Just seriously ****ed off. I have to laugh when you consider our 3 previous AD's and Rad. The AD job was a complete joke before Rad, seriously. Rad isn't perfect, either. The basketball program just took a huge step forward with $. Now baseball hasn't gotten that big money boost at least yet, but the football and basketball ball have been taken serious for the 1st time in the modern age at Miami. The 2 sports that move the needle.
I find it hard to believe it will be both Brey and Flint.
Can we maybe just have one thread that doesn't dissolve into a flame war about the wisdom of hiring Jai?
Take it for what it’s worth, but living in KY, I asked a bunch of coworkers who are diehard Cats fans about Flint and his perception of him as an assistant under Cal, and it wasn’t positive. Basically said he didn’t do much, and that Antigua was probably the most well respected of Cal’s assistants.Would expect to hear Bruiser Flint’s name now that Arkansas has been eliminated
Not rooting for him to fail, but like Frank Haith, Manny Diaz, Randy Shannon, Larry Coker, JD Arteaga and Gino Dimare, I know that the odds are not in his favor. It's tough enough for successful, experienced coaches to win in a new place, imagine coming in and lacking experience or a proven track record. Miami bet the farm on magic beans. Could it end up working out? Could, but if the last 20+ years are any indication, it wouldn't be prudent to bet your house on it.CaneDude will definitely be rooting for Lucas to fail so he can say I told you so
