I don't think it's as complicated as you're making it out to be, though the wording doesn't help at all. Obviously we only have what the canesport guy is saying, which I assume we all take with a grain of salt. I take it to mean that Mario looks to get a level of certainty - in this case, an assurance from the candidate in question - that an offer would be accepted before giving them an offer (verbal or contract? Unclear). It's certainly still possible that, after a candidate says they'd take the offer, at the last minute they decide to back out. Job offer of multiple years has to be in writing so whatever they verbally agreed to wouldn't be binding.
I’m more than aware, you may be mistaking my satire for sincerity...

I fully get what is meant from Mario’s perspective as it pertains to interviewing candidates etc..

I’m making fun of Ferman & how dumb he is to actually word it in such a way that it defies logic.

At least we have 2 OL guys on campus plus a Samoan to help get this beast

Idc about OC or DC updates. Who’s got the inside info on who will be running the Special Teams?

Who got ST candidates in mind to get us to page 1000.

I think the issue is Mario and T-Rob already had some bad blood between them, and it's amateur hour if he hadn't considered this exact thing happening. A competent coach would know that the chances of keeping a coach with whom he has a rocky relationship is very low. Maybe he convinces the assistant coach to stay another year, but long term, no chance.

And if one of the best CB coaches in the country reaches out as has been alleged, a competent HC - without any hesitation - makes a preemptive move and tells the other guy that he isn't being retained.

This board would be in full meltdown mode if Raymond had reached out, Diaz turned him down, then T-Rob walked.
I don’t know that the bad blood still exists and that t-rob just wasn’t making a move he thought we good for his career. Who knows?

I mean, there WERE a bunch of guys who posted that Miami "turned down" Corey Raymond "because" we already had T-Rob.

At any rate, I think Raymond made his decision and will not now change his mind to leave Gaypier and the Gaytors.
Not trying to cause confusion. What I spoke on only comes from one point of view and it’s not UM’s. I only ever spoke to one side during that process.

Oh, and I wasn't calling you out at all. I think that your information is very solid, and any candidate can spin a story in his direction.

I'm talking about the dozens of know-nothings who paraded around repeating the story about how arrogant Mario turned down the eminently qualified Raymond because we were sooooooo happy with T-Rob.

And even when you try to walk people through the timeline, they still won't change their minds.

Or he got cold feet at the last second, which would align with what was said earlier.
Or…. He got offered, accepted the job. Went home, told his wife. Wifey says, “**** no! I’m not moving to no Miami, Florida”. He calls Mario, and backs out.

Respect. Knowing how Cis interprets every piece of info it was irresponsible of me to even charge in like that though. I knew their brains would start spinning.
