My issue is with Points (2)-(4). The Satterfield offense is good. Ponce finished 22nd in scoring this year, ahead of Matt Candle in Toledo.

If we look at the ACC, Satterfield was 31st in scoring this year at Louisville. That's ahead of Miami, Arkansas and right behind Ole Miss.

I agree that I want someone with a longer track record, especially at that money. But this is a good offense that scores points.
How’s his YPP, 3rd down %, and redzone conversion?

We're just relying on different metrics it seems, but at least you understand our position a bit better now.

I have no info on Ponce. Zero. Don't worry about reading into anything.

Just think it's weird that people are saying he has "bad results" when Appalachian State scored a bunch of points with him as the playcaller. That offense is very hard to defend. According to someone on our old defensive staff, it was the hardest offense to prepare for (App. State and Louisville).

Personally, I want someone with a longer track record of playcalling. But I suspect the perception of Ponce as a lazy hire is because he's Hispanic (Nicaraguan, not Cuban) from Miami.

I'm not going to speak for everyone else (and especially not the closeted anti-Cuban/South American dudes lurking around here), but count me as a Cuban from Miami living in Miami who doesn't see it with Coach Ponce.

I was on the team at Gables while Ponce was a offensive assistant coach and interacted with him almost every day back then and I simply cannot believe he is a P5 OC. Granted, that was like 25 years ago and people can certainly mature and grow, but the dude I remember I wouldn't want for the OC spot at UM.

Sure. But, using your logic then it's too soon to call these posters "mopers." You acknowledge the mopers, but deny the existence of slurpers. You can't have it both ways.

Stop it. Just stop it.

I made it very clear, a "slurper" is someone who insists that every thing a coach does is correct, even when we lose games we shouldn't lose, etc. Mario has been on the job for 6 weeks. There are no slurpers because no games have been played, it is impossible for someone to support Mario in spite of all the games he has lost because we haven't played any games.

"Mopers" are different, they complain about every aspect of the program. They find something new to complain about once they have lost the ability to complain about the last thing that they complained about.

You are moping. It's not some "oh, but I have valid and informed opinions about the hiring process". You don't. Very few people do, because Mario has kept a tight lid on things. And the Briles stuff is insane-level-bullsh!te.

Candle slept on the offer and decided to stay in his lifelong Ohio backyard. T-Rob Mario'd Mario. But the mopers are going to magnify those things into fatal flaws and program-killing errors.

BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT MOPERS DO. It's not coach-specific. It's a decades-long joyless process of complaining about anything and everything.

So I think I’m all caught up from this morning

- seems we are done crying about TRob and Raymond.

- Arkansas fans think Briles turned us down

- there seems to be different factions building in the UM universe. The Republic and the Seperstists (who oddly enough is called CIS)

My opinion. Healthy debate as well as questioning/challenging status quo is important. Don’t stop. Of course we all want to know our staff like we want to know what we got for XMas way before the big day. Of course it would be ideal to have the whole staff in place. But to act like the sky is falling and damaging the program is a bit over the top. Mario was never going to fill up the shopping cart in the portal. We MAY have missed on a guy or 2…which there is no guarantee we would have landed if we had our staff anyways. We also did snag a few targets.

Our 2022 class will be top 20 and what Mario will do in a few short weeks is a miracle. This weekend is exciting. Don’t sweat it though Mario and his staff will have an entire year to close these kids. We should have a top 10 class.

Let the hires be made and then cast stones is my humble advise.

Sheesh. You are acting like a petulant child.

I will take your advice and stop it.

Good day, sir.

Woah woah slow down, you're sounding like a rational human. You either have to be far left or far right, so either full-blown slurp piece or hating mope that thinks Mario should be fired already. Did I do it right?

Yet another fake narrative.

How about "you just hired a guy for $8 million per year, let's judge the hiring process at its conclusion, let's judge the recruiting process at its conclusion, and let's judge the first season at its conclusion" RATHER THAN going insane over hour-by-hour horserace coverage of a process that very few people know anything about, and even the most inside insiders are saying is hard to predict.

Waiting to judge Mario's hires until all the hires are made is NOT "slurping".

If this were FIU-Mario or 2019-Diaz, I would understand the angst. People need to take a collective step back and recognize Miami is led by an established, proven head coach. He's proven his decision making leads to results.

Ponce would probably do fine… TVD could make a lot of people look good, it certainly wouldn’t be a **** hire though, if it was him I assume we wouldn’t pay him over a mill, and if we spend that money on a big time DC I could live with it.
