Campbell had a 70% winning pct and Candle has a 62% so you're exactly right. The talk from them is that this season was a let down as expectations were a lot higher.Because he wins 1 game per year less than Matt Campbell did.
Come on, they are not very smart. They live in Toledo.
Out of curiosity, why do you think Mario zero'd in on Jason Candle vs someone like Sean Lewis or even Tim Lester? Not saying one is better than the other but they're similar in that their young offensive minded, all in the same conference, and Mario doesn't really have any direct connections to either.
Those are the names bouncing around ND boards.Belk or Mason I’m guessing?
He must've meant 32.5 then.33” is max size on gulf side.
Who reached out to whom? Kind of sounds he reached out given his situation. If he was offered, what's there to sit on?It’s very far along. Candle is sitting on it a few days or even slept on it last night and deciding today if I had to guess.
His name got out 2 weeks ago. It’s probably been going on a little before that. I can’t see it dragging on much longer one direction or the other
Huh? Enos was QB coach at Bama…so I’m not sure what you’re trying to say here. This makes no sense to me. I just cannot see a DI head coach leaving to take an OC job. I know enos did it but he was on his way out.
I'm sorry, but I just don't see where this makes any sense.
If we're this late in the game and we're trying to pull a college head coach, then we have issues. This really concerns me thet we're trying to lure a head coach who has a job.
This doesn't make any sense for Candle regardless of a pay raise to be OC. He's the man in charge of his own program. He'll have a P5 job in the same amount of time as taking the Miami OC job if not sooner. I don't think he'd be here for more than 2 years at best.
I'm sorry, but it doesn't benefit Candle. I would love to have him, but I would be more than shocked if he accepted the position.
Since going 11-3 in 2017. He's lost 6 games in every season that wasn't the covid year. He's not on the trajectory of getting a Power 5 job. He's more likely to get fired after 2022. And if he gets fired at Toledo he's probably gonna have to be a Power 5 OC anyway to rebuild his reputation. Better to get out before you get fired.I'm sorry, but I just don't see where this makes any sense.

Except word is he has reached out about several P5 vacancies and no one gave him the time of day. If that is the case, he’s peaked at Toledo and his best chance to move up is to show he can do it at a P5 level as OC. Also new AD coming there and his seat is apparently warm as head coach. Leave while you control the narrative.I'm sorry, but I just don't see where this makes any sense.

It’s a mutual thing. Same agency. He’s got to sit on leaving a HC position for an OC position. That’s a drastic career change.Who reached out to whom? Kind of sounds he reached out given his situation. If he was offered, what's there to sit on?
That's not his end game. I don't care if fans hate on me. It makes no sense for him to come. It doesn't benefit his career. He's already a head coach with a job and is lined up for a P5 job soon.He understands that odds for success at Miami as an OC are greater than at Toledo. After he kills it here, the big boys will be after him for a HC gig. Plus, he's probably sick of Ohio. Been there his entire life.
I will try and link the article if I can find it again but I mentioned it was about a month ago there seemed to be some friction between Candle and Toledo seemingly from contract (I’m guessing a little bit here)I'm sorry, but I just don't see where this makes any sense.
